Finally, the 4G TL RonJon Grille has progressed with detailed info and pics!!!

I just gotta ask if anyone else was on this same train of thought as I was...
So when we all first saw the concept of the RonJon TL Grille, we all thought the same thing: Pure Sex.
And then, as details of the actual grille were being produced, it pulled us in even more with the love affair, because the lines of it seemed exactly as conceptualized.
But then, I think alot of us were confused, especially me, when they were seeing the actual product painted up, like alot of us are probably wanting to do to ours...
And in my opinion, I was more than a little turned off. It's not because the paint wasn't matched up just yet, but the width of the sides on the grille seemed to have expanded double from what it originally was! I was saddened that this grille looked so good before and now looked so gaudy!
But alas, RonDog, the most recent pictures showed me that your grille was on the right track again. It appears as if the width of the sides remained true to the concept again and looks very appealing to me. If this most recent picture is how you're going to manufacture these, I will definitely be in line for one too, keep up the good work!

I agree with you prepreludesh - That's why I wanted to see the final product. I couldn't say the initial image invoked the same feelings as the initial fabrications. The most recent pick is again back on track. But I still want to see the finished product. I think it will look great.

I believe that were his intentions..and I guess we'll see what he says!

imagine the grille shown in the pic with the bumper off the car, now just add the bar across the middle, the mesh and the emblem, and thats how it's gonna look. The PS i did was just a render, I got a little crazy with the sides, but in the end, we wanted it to look as close to the original concept as possible.

I actually have one question for you Ron. I know how you said it comes primed and ready to be painted..now what if some of us wants the contrast on the car that was given to us with the original grill. Do we have to get it painted to that color on our own?
Thanks!
Thanks!

We will have painted options available from us, but they will be limited to OEM paint codes and gloss clear.

That is a variation of the front lip, actually it's a pair of spatts, not connected in the middle. Less costly version of the front add on kit. When and if the time comes, there will be a thread with all the pros and cons of each possible kit.

I am sure Rondy will be posting some pics. It's hard to believe I haven't really had my car for more than a few days since the first half of July. 5 weeks total for the grille and a week at Tein. I am going to chill for a bit after this.

If you painted one with the factory paint code, how far off of a match would it be with metallic paint? Isn't the best thing to do to have it matched by a body shop you trust?
Not being able to get the factory silver color for the bar across the middle or possibly the bottom surround is slightly discouraging. I wasn't planning on painting the small rear 'grill' below the trunk, but I'm unsure how I would feel about that not matching the front. Hmmmm.

Correct. Darker colors are easier to match, but white and silver are harder and honestly, I don't know the odds, but it's rare to match dead on. Then again, the factory has the same problem with the bum pers and kits.
Also the factory grille silver has no paint code as far as i know, I believe it's more of a coating color than a paint code.
The difference between the two silvers is hardly noticeable on the frame or thin bar anyway. It's not something anybody will be able to notice unless you put the two silvers right next to eachother.

I'm not extremely knowledgeable about paint.

So I shouldn't really expect a better match unless I take it to a shop that uses a paint camera. Even then, I'm skeptical of how that would properly determine how metallic paint like this looks in different levels/types of light.
Seems like paint based on the paint code would be the safest bet overall. I'm glad I didn't go with a pearl color.
I'm also in the boat of waiting to see the finished product before I order, but I know it will be an instant yes or no when I see the final pictures. I just have to decide whether I want the top+frame painted body color or just the top.
You're definitely the most helpful and interactive vendor I've experienced on any automotive forum.

Last teaser before a painted, fully assembled and installed grille is shown on the car...
just a quick shot from yesterday before it went to paint, btw, that center support piece on the split bar can be painted the same color as the mesh to hide it, but it is needed for obvious reasons:

Ok, first of all, the mesh that was used was just silver aluminum color, that right there kinda messed up the flow of the color. So ALL I did was photoshop the emblem out (which also didn't flow) and change the color only of the mesh to a darker color. Everything else is untouched. Thanks to Ryan for providing his car and I hope he decides to paint the mesh black, if so, this is how it will look.
BTW, the fitment is PERFECT I was told by the project supervisor...
