not a big fan of the ronjon grill. especially with the bar in the middle. looks like a camero, and if i wanted a camero, i would have bought one.

What a way to start pg 2, lol. Thats why the bar will be removable. Dealers can choose to put the "A" logo in there or leave it meshed out. the Bar breaks up the space for those who want a more traditional aftermarket grille with a little contrast between the frame and bar.

With the pieces being removable and the painting options extensive, I don't see how anyone could find a flaw in this design.

Not to complain or anything about the RJ grille, but I always thought that the silver middle bar is the same as the MDX, is just don't have the A logo and the long silver plate cover on top and the bottom.

So my priority is the grille with the silver bar, but I would like to consider to have to RJ grille with the silver bar and don't know if I can put the A on top of the bar also~ Is that possible Ron?

The Ron Jon prototype grill with the middle bar looks too much like an afterthought. Take some time and use the grill from the euro accord or late 80's Mercedes Benz grills as a reference point. At least give folks with the 4G TL several options. I venture to guess that with the right aftermarket grilles in place, the TL will sell and the aftermarket grill manufacturers will be all the richer.

Its a great car in need of the right grill. So many dealerships are already paint matching the TL grill. I cant wait to see one that complements the car. Three slats that span the interior space would look great IMHO.

Anything custom (and in limited numbers) usually command high prices.

well most dealers are charging $500-700 for painting the stock grill i don't mind spending that much on a better looking grill.

Some dealers are trying to sell the grille for $1500 painted

That E&G Classics grille is crap.. and its $500+ on ebay...

Supply & Demand.... The grille will be worth it, there will be limited production, and those owners can truely stand apart from the crowd

Over the years, i am sure there will be 10+ grille alternatives for this car, they will probably be like $300... and will never be on the same quality as ronjon's grille ... my

Ron-- Are you taking deposits? Or going to make an official GB list/thread?

Yes, we are taking deposits, and the reason for the cost is the 2 piece construction which is sonic welded, has removable parts and is made from quality ABS material with Prep and Primed surface included, ready for paint. Add it up and the cost is not bad actually. Hardware from the factory grille in addition to our own supplied hardware make this a bolt in, bolt out product with no modifications required. The GB price is $545, so it's not even that bad, considering the cost of the OEM grille is more than that.

GB price is well worth the money. What is the problem here? Great well respected product of RJ is second to none, and on par with much more expensive products sold for other makes.

I'm in RJ. How much of deposit is required? And how many are required for GB? Thanks.

thanks lpe. It's true, if anybody has ever tried to buy a part for a Lexus, MB, or BMW, you'll definetly appreciate the under $1k price tag of the grille. No limit on the GB but we will be making a few grilles for the dealerships, so they will have to be considered when purchasing the initial run. $200 deposit is required.

BTW, sorry if I haven't called back a few people who wanted to place deposits, I have been extremely busy with some new projects I am working on. Today I will be returning all calls.

I have no problem with the price, but I do have a problem spending money when not seeing the finished product. I would be more than happy to get in on the group buy if I can see the finished product installed on a TL first. I don't think that's asking too much.

"Easy" is a relative term......for any grill replacement, you have to remove the entire front bumper, like it or not.

few more pics of the first outer part of the shell coming out of the mold. Still has to be trimmed and assembled, then the bar gets installed with the emblem and the hardware gets attached. Soon my friends, and the quality will be the BEST possible.

More pics of the progress coming soon!

I've had my TL SH-AWD for over 4 months - love it... except the grill. The original pic at the beginning of the thread really caught my attention. I don't have enough of an imagination to to visualize the manufactured grill without tape. But if it looks like the original pic, I'll be lining up to buy one.

Ron, the grill looks great. Huge improvement over the stock one.

The idiot designers at Acura better be holding print outs of this thread at their next board meeting.
