Few Questions about Sport/Manual mode in 5MT
Hey y'all
So recently I've been out a lot more, driving the car around and whatnot and I've noticed it feels a bit lurch-y in manual mode. I've never really driven a manual before and I was wondering if this had something to do with going too fast and then downshifting? What are the correct rpm/speed ranges to be in? Is it possible to rev-match in these cars? Thanks! |
The lurching you're feeling is when the engine is going between engine braking and acceleration. It feels different that driving in D because of the higher rpms create more powerful engine braking, and when you come to a stop it doesn't stay in a high gear and ride the torque converter. You'll notice there's a point on the throttle where it's smooth, no acceleration or engine braking. I drive in sport mode a lot just to keep the car out of 6th gear on the 50mph roads... Thing be shifting and running at 1200rpm all day if not

oh god please dont call it manual XD

Also yes you can rev match by smashing the gas while downshifting then letting off immediately when it shifts
|
You would click the paddle for downshift , then tap gas quick, then it should rev match

I've realized this car really likes to rev match ;)

yeah it sounds awesome
