Engine from MDX into 2010 TL
Hello,
Acura is no longer going to do the oil consumption warranty repair because they noted that my cams were pitted....Quoted $8000 to do cams, oil seal, and piston kit....bullshit aside.
I found a 2011 MDX 3.7l engine for $1500 w/ only 45,000kms.
Would it be compatible with my 2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT? I can't seem to find any information from Acura regarding block/head casting numbers etc.
Thank you

The inconvenient truth
Oh that sucks especially since the cams were probably pitted due to the excessive oil consumption.

Burning Brakes
The TL engine is a J37A4 and the MDX is a J37A2.
You may have to research the two engines.
I don't know differences but I assume they are minor.

^^ +1 I would recommend going to an independent mechanic to quote for the repair. MDX engine may need the ECU off the MDX, or standalone. All 3.7's were affected i think....
That really sucks considering they replaced my front bank cams under warranty when they did the pistons and rings. The tech actually said the pitting was due to oil starvation from the excessive oil burning.
