do you downshift with the pedal shifter on normal driving?

I don't know if there s a problem with my car's engine but at times It feels that has no power from acceleration even while the rpm is already at 3-4000. Is this due to not downshifting with the pedal shifter or because I need to accelerate to higher rpm for the vtec to kick in?

IF the VSA system detects wheel spin it will cause the car's computer to cut power. Make sure you are using premium fuel and your tires are inflated properly.

When is the last time you changed your auto trans fluid? DW-1 Fluid breaks down fairly quick in the 6spd auto transmissions and that can cause a lot of poor shift quality and lack of efficiency.

Does your vtec kick in ? If not, you should check your Engine Oil level.

I think it's 4700. That being said it's true these engines make most of their power at high rpm. But it shouldn't feel too sluggish between 3-4000.

Around the 4500 range. You should feel it kick in, in any event, check you oil level first.
