Currently in a 2009 TL w/Tech.. thinking about a 2012+
I absolutely loove driving my TL. It's almost perfect for me. My only wishes were it to be a little quieter in the cabin and perhaps a bit smoother on the road.
I know "smoother" directly competes with its 'sports sedan' purpose.
Anyway, I was wondering if any of you had an older 4th gen TL and stepped into a newer year? What were the key differences?

the key differences are the following:
revised front bumper/grill
revised rear bumper
6 speed auto transmission vs 5 speed auto
revised navigation screen and interface
push start button on advance models <--others correct me if i am wrong
they are mainly aesthetic differences which may not be worth the financial investment to change to basically the same feeling car again unless you want less mileage which on a honda/acura shouldn't matter that much if the car was taken care of properly.
I have a 2012 and like the 2009 rear bumper more. the front of the 2012 i do like better.
6 speed auto vs 5 speed auto, both are auto and coming from a manual it just will take getting used to.

Burning Brakes
I have a 2013 FWD Tech.
Aside from the features pointed out by 2nsail, the car is a bit quieter but I don't think it's very quiet. Maybe a bit noiser than a newer camry. If you want more comfort, you could wait a year and upgrade to a TLX. It's definitely an upgrade in terms of ride and comfort.
In the mean time, you could replace the tires for something quieter.

Depending on your price range and/or timeline...I'd upgrade to a used RLX.

what 2snail said.
i traded in my 2009 5sp auto for a 2012 6sp MT back in july.
to be honest i couldn't tell the difference other than aesthetic differences, sharper navigation screen and updated map. i actually like the earlier grille and the dual exhaust tips, but i couldn't say no to the the manual transmission![Tongue](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
my suggestion is to go test drive the new TLX if you like the ride better.

Yeah... I agree with the others. Not enough difference in terms of quietness or smoothness to warrant such a change.
Upgrade to a RLX kind of intrigues me as my local dealer is pretty much giving the damn thing away. I recently received an email from them on a 2014 RLX Advance for $46k.

$46K for an Advance...I would jump on that quick. I love my ZDX, but eventually I can see myself trading for an RLX. Unfortunately the ZDX probably has the worst trade value in the history of all Acuras (even with a low 12,090 miles...my 2013 is only worth about 34k). Mind you the car had an msrp of $51,815 and all 4 Acura dealers in my area weren't willing to go any lower than 48k (this was about a year and a half ago). So imagine the amount of negative equity I have on it now. The smart thing would've been to go for a used 2012 Advance (which I could've gotten for about 8k cheaper than I paid for the new 2013, but I wanted a new one and I like the 2013 front grille better). To the original poster, I say keep your '09 or if you're going to get rid of it, go for a new TLX or a certified low mileage RLX. But to trade for practically the same car, I wouldn't.

^ Well... my thinking is if they are discounting the RLX this much, I can only imagine what that will do to its resale value down the road. I think it would be fantastic deal if one is the type of person to keep a car until the wheels fall off. Personally, being in the northeast, it has to be AWD or no dice. As attractive as the price is for the RLX.... I am going to stick to my TL SH-AWD for now.
