Current selling price of '11 TL SHAWD 6MT?

I'm thinking about selling mt '06 TL 6-MT and getting a '11 TL 6-speed... does anyone know what dealerships are selling them for right now in michigan?

I remember reading here that people were getting them for ~38k, but the retail on them is 43k...hoping maybe there's some better-than-normal deals going on for end-of-year sales.

any input/info's greatly appreciated.

thanks!

uhm...i doubt you'll get a 2011 TL SH-AWD 6spd for $38k, only real reason why people are getting it for those prices is to get rid of the 2010

I got my 2010 TL 6 brand new last Oct for $44k and someone on here got one for roughly $38k at the same dealer

Maybe... the 2010 TL SH-AWD 6MT was being advertised at $37999 just six months after release... a terrible on-lot depreciation for a car that was not discounted much the first month. That's more than 10% off MRSP for a new car quite quickly.

That there's still a glut of 2010s is a good sign for continued deep discounts.

Yea - I think you should not have a problem getting it for 38k. I don't know if there are many incentives out anymore, or if those are gone. If you really want a deal, you could wait for the 2012's to come out and see if you can snag a 2011 for a deal. But since the 6mt is such low production, dealers may/may not want to haggle on that. It's all going to depending on the area/dealer/etc...

Acura TL has a 5 star depreciation rating...meaning it depreciates the least. Check it out here, https://www.alg.com/DepreciationRatings

One of the great reasons to buy an Acura is that they hold their value well. But you already knew that.

As to prices in your area for an '11 SH-AWD 6MT, check Truecar.com.

They're showing an average selling price in my area of just under 40K for the car. You can type in your zip and they'll adjust the info for where you live.

Also, Edmunds.com will give you fairly reliable pricing info.

As for the supposed "glut" of 2010 TLs mentioned above, my dealer has 7 left, with exactly 1 SH-AWD (Auto), so lotsa luck playing that card.

Hope you can find the car you want at a good price.

If you can find a 2010, $37k-$38k should not be a problem and maybe less depending on your area. The 11' will likely go for no less than invoice which is about $40k for a non HPT w/ destination.

I do not believe there are any incentives for the 2011 just yet, as it will be a relatively low production model year with the strong possibility of an early 2012 mid model change and late overproduction of the 2010 models.

Look for incentives to start up on it in early January and to get better towards the Spring/Summer but by then the 2012 may be available for not much more. You may want to consider going with a 2010 now unless there really are none in your area, in that case you don't have much of a choice, or wait and see if the 12' comes early, even if it doesn't, the 11' will be available for even less than now at that time and the 12' will still only be a few more months away from then.

As far as I can recall, 2011 6MTs were only manufactured for one month. I don't think any dealers have been able to order any since the first batch. No idea on how many were actually made and delivered though. There will be no 2011 AWD TLs for January production.

Can you tell us the approximate ratio of FWD to AWD sales? Just curious.

Thanks.

That's a completely irrelevant number to the conversation. The car depreciated > 12% on dealer lots in six months. alg is measuring an average - how much does the car sell for after, e.g., 10 years. There's no doubt that the Acura TL is a Honda-quality product and that a 10-year-old barely-maintained Acura TL will be more reliable than the typical equivalent Audi A4 or BMW 330 with the same lack of care. And no doubt in my mind that the Acura will require fewer repairs. And therefore, after 10 years, should sell for more.

The opportunity for the OP is that they aren't as desired now. The depreciation is front-loaded, but long-term is lower.

These stats are not released so it's hard to say. If I had to guess, I'd imagine that it couldn't be more than 30%

I won't get a single 6MT for 2011.

We won't either, but I think they were offered earlier. Maybe not?

^^^
If I need one, I have a pretty good relationship with every dealer in New England, I can swap it in. I'm guessing that's not an option for you.

Yeah, no trades for us. However, its not that it matters that much, we've still got 3 2010s between 190 and 352 days old. Whine, whine, whine all you want about manufacturers not offering 6MTs, the fact is hardly anybody buys them anymore.

Colin...
You have 3 2010 6MT SH-AWD TLs on the lot, or you have 3 2010 TLs of various configurations?

3 2010 6MT SH-AWD HPT. Probably around 11 total (including MT) 2010s.

Interesting. I tried to get a 2010 m/t about a month ago and my dealer (NY) could only find an '11 that was a manager's demo.
As I understand it, the one I'm getting had a build date of Dec. 15th/17th. It should be here around the end of this month. We'll see.

I'd have some concerns that they're not being fully truthful but would stop short of accusing them of anything. However, as far as I know, Acura is NOT building any MTs in the TL this month but I could be wrong.

You're stuck with them because of geography. If I had 3 6MT's we'd be fielding calls daily about swaps. It's always tough in my area for a 6MT buyer to get the largest discounts available on a car because by the time the big discounts are available, the 6MT's aren't. If you were one of 12 dealers in a tri-state area some one else would have sold those cars for you and may have been willing to give you a car that you see as much more marketable.

How much would the shipping be to get a car from Hawaii to the East Coast? Maybe I can make them go away for you.

could have been a car from a previous allocation that Acura bumped the production date on. What they tell us originally and what actually happens aren't always the same thing. I've had cars that appear in my "electronic inventory" a week before the truck shows up to deliver it. From what I understand, color can play a big part in it. If they receive very few orders for a particular color in a given month, they may hold production of those cars until the next month when they have banked more orders for it. They do paint jobs in runs so they end up doing 300 black cars, 250 silver cars 230 white cars..... if they only receive 30 orders for say grigio, they may hold those orders until the next month to make more efficient use of the painting facilities.

If I was you muggs, I would just nonchalantly ask to see the paperwork that shows the planned build date. They can either pull up their on order inventory online or they may keep a paper copy of it. If it shows up on their Acura iN inventory, it's a real car and you have nothing to worry about other than production and shipping delays. If it doesn't, they're trying to pull a fast one. FWIW even if it is a car that they were not originally supposed to get, they can pull up other dealers inventories online as well through the iN. I can look at Colins new car inventory and he could look at mine if we wanted to, Acura ties us all in on new car inventories to facilitate swapping vehicles between dealers.

Thanks for the information. When the car arrives, if ever,
it should have practically no miles
and the build date
is on the door jam. Right guys?

Only the month and year show up (unless the exact date is contained in some coding that us non-insider types can't decipher).

The month and day show up for dealers internally but you are right about the door jam, it just gives month and year.

I got a call from my dealer. The car will be here on Tuesday 12/28 and hopefully,
my butt will be sitting in it on Thursday! I'm genuinely excited and relieved since
there was some question as to whether I could even get an '11 six speed.
Can't wait!
