Couldn't even make it a year...the first dent

Some asshat in my work parking lot put a thumb size dent in my rear passenger door, just below the window. I could scream. I'll try to get a pic up later. The good news is you can only see it from certain angles, and there's no scratch or paint damage, at least to the naked eye. Its so shallow I'm not sure its worth paying to repair

You can probably get it fixed for less than $40. Call your dealer and have them set it up. It is worth having it fixed vs. it catching your eye periodically and having it piss you off.

From your description, PDR should be able to take care of it. You'll never know it was there. $40-60 should take care of it.

People can be real jerks.

I don't even feel "right" until I put at least a scratch on it. Really, I don't think I have ever gone more than a month without putting a scratch/dent on a new car. The TL got it in a nose dive while entering a parking lot to fast. The best one was a 2 day old car... truck went into reverse and drove right into the nose of the car.

Sorry man, but the Dent Doctor (or something like that) should take care of it, for sure.

Thanks, I'll make some calls to get this fixed. Wish I had cameras in our parking lot.

You should feel lucky. I have about $1000 worth of hail damage from a storm a few weeks ago.

I bought something like this years ago but ended up never using for a couple of reasons. For one thing I was almost always able to find spaces on the street or in a lot that were away from other cars. The extra effort/time of seeking out "safe" spaces was about the same as fiddling around with the door guards. Secondly I figured these would call attention to those jerks who would view it as an invitation to leave a dent/ding/scratch just for the hell of it and to show that they could in spite of your efforts. No shortage of jerks and inconsiderate people in the world.

You're like my father when it comes to cars. As long as he gets from point a to point b he's a happy camper. He just has to be comfortable since he puts 30k/yr for work. His current GS 350 has nothing but rock chips, some scratches, and a few dings.

From the way you're describing the dent, it sounds like you can do PDR. Call you're local dealer or body shop to get an estimate.

I do not use mine either. I park FAR away. Mine are for emergency parking only. Better to have and not need, then to need and not have

I suppose this is a product of our latest *not my fault* raised society. When I grew up you were taught to respect other people's property. I've had 4 cars in the last decade, and this is the first that's ever been damaged (at least visually) in a parking lot. If I can get it fixed for less than $50 I'll be thrilled, but true satisfaction won't happen unless I find the SOB that did it and shove my knee thru his quarter panel

^^^People just don't care any more, for sure. I'm that guy that parks on the curb WAYYYY at the end of the parking lot no matter what, and even then, people will park next to you just to be dbags.

Still, knock on wood, no dents to date on my 07 or 09.....

This is not a new phenomenon. I recall way back in the 1970s when I had just gotten my 1970 Roadrunner back from the paint shop after an accident. I was sitting in a market parking lot and some woman parked next to me and banged her door open into my fender. I think I took a look and said something right after she did it but it did not even occur to her to be the least apologetic.

I am sort of a people watcher and, in fact, if I happen to be sitting near a parking lot, I notice the way others get out of their cars. I have to say that, in general, folks seem more careful these days than say 20 years ago. Perhaps this is because cars are relatively so much more expensive than they used to be and drivers are more aware of this. Still I see those few that just swing open their doors without much awareness. Sorry to generalize but these are frequently girls/women, older people, people in obviously a lower class (often obvious by the cars they drive), and of course kids.
