Check power steering system
Got a "Check power steering system" light on.... with loss of power steering....ugh...
On a 2012 TL base model... have not had a diagnosis yet.. although u-tube sights identify EPS unit or rack motor failure. ($$)
Any body experience this ......and fixes involved.

Check power steering system
This is an update ..... to the "Check power steering system" light on .....
It turns out that I had a failure with the EPS unit that controls the power steering system including the steering rack and motor (very expensive to replace)
I changed it P/n 39980-TK4-A01. its located on passenger side under the glove box. And sure enough solved steering problem.
The sympton was the light "chk p/steering system would go on and there would be no power assist.

I been reading about this power steering issue in the forums lately. I hope I don’t run into this issue. I’m glad you fixed it yourself.

2010 to 2013 Acura tl.s have electric power steering systems.... instead of the hydraulic type systems .
The EPS (electric power system) consists of a EPS unit (control box) , few sensors and the Rack /motor steering unit (all one unit)
I replaced the EPS unit (control box).... costs can be 250$ to 550$ depending on where you buy it from. I found one on Ebay for $260.
The EPS unit is similar to the ECU that controls the engine functions.

Interesting. I thought this problem stemmed largely from a mechanical failure of the motor unit. But yours was the control unit? That might actually be good news, I mean, assuming mine ever goes out. I'll hope if it does that it's the control unit and not the motor unit.

Yea, actually there is a scanner Acura dealer and few other shops have. But at a cost (dealer $240)
Which is the proper way to diagnose. But I took a chance .... U-tube has a few how to's on this subject.
The only symptom I had to work with was the light went on (Chk p/s system) and no power assist.

Loss of power steering....... as soon as the "check power steering system comes on.
Very hard to turn steering wheel. Had to tow the car.
Yea probably similar to failure of the hydraulic pump or belt.
