Check Engine Light on 1 day old 2012 TL WTF!!!!

So as you may have read, i pulled the trigger on a BWP 2012 TL SH-AWD 6MT. Took delivery yesterday, and started on my route home which is about 70km away. Just before pulling into my driveway, i hear the chime and notice the light. "Check Emissions". WTF.....the car has 200km in it. Brand new! Thought it was the gas cap, so i lossened it, retightened and drove for about half hour. Light still on. First thing in the morning, started it up, light still on. So i proceed to by local dealer. They took it in right away, ran the diagnostic. The code was reading "Knock Sensor Malfunction". But the dealer tested the car, checked everything, drove the car, and said there is absolutley no problems at all. Car is running normal. Very strange why the light came on, they have no idea. They cleared the code, and so far it hasn't returned.

Has anyone else experienced any issues as soon as you take delivery? Not the feeling i wanted after being so excited about my new car.

Thanks.

Acura2010....Hey fella Canadian, I am very sory to hear about your check engine light and must have been a fluke, or at least I hope. I never had any issues like that, I heard of the Check gas cap message but this one is different. If its any consolation, we had a rabbit that did that once, took it to the delaer, they reset the code and it never came back. I wonder if it might have been bad gas or something. Either, don;t let this little incident ruin your purchase....the TL is a great car and I am sure you will love it.

Thanks for the re-assurance. i'm not gonna let it dampen my spirits. I think the Computer in my car was just having a bad day. But atleast it's documented, and warranty will take care of it if it ever comes back on. The car is spectacular. I'm at work, and all i can think about is the drive home. Can't wait.

I've had my car 6 months now and STILL can't wait to drive it home, to work, to the grocery store, gym... everywhere!

When a "brand new" car registers 130km (200-70km) on the odometer at delivery, I don't think it is exactly brand new. Maybe a demo car ?

All the brand new cars I have bought registered <10km on the meters.

I recently had this happen a lot over the summer. My Type S was still under warranty, so the dealership replaced some sensors and no more problems.

Sometimes this happens-even with a new car!

Sorry dude. Stupid emissions crap. I'm doing a little research on the before and after performance/mpg of our cars with and without these boat anchors tied around the engine heads.

<sarcasm>Your mistake is even making it home with all that emissions crap still on the engine; you should have popped the hood right there in the parking lot and showed the stealership how to bolt on a set of those PCDs and a longtube J-pipe....oh wait, those STILL haven't shipped. </sarcasm>

Happened with my 06 tsx-It happened after the gas cap was loose-It would not go away after I tightened the cap. Went to the dealer-they checked it out and reset the code. No problems since then. Good luck-nice- 6MT-

Could it be low octane gasoline that the dealership put in?? Just a hunch, as these guys could have put in 87 octane gas, although 87 octane gasoline is acceptable for the TL every once in a while.

I wouldn't let it dampen your spirits, these cars are so advanced that anything can trigger a CEL on these cars concerning emmisions. Chances are very good that it will never come on again! I also think we who buy these cars think they are infalliable and are more surprised when something like that happens, than most people.

my first guess..

but your light should not turn on from here on out if you use proper gas
