LOL, late as in "for 2011?" Yeah, that would be a good possibility. I don't see this as a running change mid year. Too much work to change everything to support it.

What about maybe adding adaptive cruise control and adaptive headlights or maybe some cooled seats or localized weather radar. All these things could be easily added with out making big changes.

With the current economy, I'd say yes. With sales down across all manufacturer's, I'd say it will be a limited edition. LOL.

If the manual TL follows the normal MT adoption rates of 5-10% they will probably be hard to find in specific colors. The TL is supposed to sell around 70K a year. However at the current rate of ~3000 per month, they will only make about 40,000. At this rate, there will be about 2000-4000 MT TL's made in the year. There are about 250 dealers so this would be little more than one per month, per dealer. Of course big dealers will get more, some dealers will get less/none, but you get the math.

Will there even be that many manufactured? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading that approximately 20% of TLs have SH-AWD, which would be 8,000 per year if a total of 40,000 TLs is assumed. 2,000 - 4,000 MT TLs per year would mean that 25-50% of SH-AWD TLs will have MT, which seems very high. Of course, Acura could also increase the proportion of SH-AWD TLs to accommodate the release of the MT.

In my opinion, the vast majority of Acura dealers will not have any 6MT's in stock. If you want one, you're best bet is to order one with a deposit.

Jeff, we just got the colors for the 2010 MDX and TL in. A few things I noticed. Royal Blue is gone for the TL. Umber is only available with the White Diamond Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl and Mayan Bronze Metallic. No more Umber with Polished Metal or Grigio Metallic. If you look at the note on the bottom, it shows that the starred colors are not available with the manual transmission or 19-inch wheel and tire package. So basically the 6 speed only comes in white/taupe, silver/ebony, black/ebony, or mayan bronze/umber.

I dont know weather to laugh or cry, what kind of joke is this?

I sure hope that person is mistaken! As for numbers, one dealer in the DC area said that he's getting around 10 6MT's, and a larger dealer said he's getting around 20. Neither had any new news on colors yet though...

My dealer made me put down a deposit. He claims he will get two 6mt's and has no idea of the color combinations or arrival time. I just hope the sticker price does not exceed the 09 too much.

Hm... it looks like the color combos are legit (or at least the pamphlet on Temple of VTEC looks real). I'm now seriously considering picking up my deposit from the dealer for the 6MT, as none of those combos really work for me (especially the black interior -- it gets way too hot!). Maybe I can live with the extra weight and slushbox...

no new colors... but i know they are limiting which colors are paired with what interiors... im pretty sure umber only comes on white or black this year..... and 6MT's will be hard to get

6MT will be here in early October.. V6 TSX is coming in about 5 days

2011... V8 Type-S will be out

and soon enough, (2011-2012) TSX V6 will be sh-awd

the current 2G TSX 4Cyl has the holes in the frame already in the rear, for the differential....

I wouldn't be surprised if they added the CMBS system and Active Cruise to the TL since the stuff in the cluster is already in there and as well acura tends to do this type of stuff if they vastly improve the car (6mt addition) (take a look at the 1st gen tsx)

Any validity to type s rumor? I would assume it would be for the 2012 MMC in 2011 if they didn't want to wait for the next gen. I do believe Acura has prepared the TSX and TL to make big moves when and if the time comes. That time is most likely after the new RL is launched and at that point nothing would be out of the question.

They don't even have the V8 in prototype stage yet for the RL....what makes you think there will be a V8 for the TL in only 2 years?! I highly doubt the TSX will have AWD.....it will not only bump the car into the ridiculous $40K+ range but will make the TL irrelevant if that happens.

Has Honda ever made a V8?

As for the TSX. there is no 100% confirmation it will have SH-AWD... but, there is 100% confirmation that the holes are in the rear sub frame for the differential.....

Dont forget, the platform is shared with Honda Accord Euro.... so, the SH-AWD could find its way into any of those cars... and its not that they are guarnteed to have it, but the option is there if they want to... Honda was smart... but the holes there in case they decide to add it, which i think is quite possible...

Car companies need to think ahead about marketing strategies... you need to give people a reason to buy the new model year vehicle.... If you put all the options out the first year, nothing will make people want to buy the next model year when both are available

There is no other explaination for those holes in the subframe

As for the 2011 Type-S? , I am just relaying things i discussed with the some of the guys at the dealership.... i believe they are only telling me what they think to be true..

V8 is quite possible, but of course, rumors and speculations... From what i know about Acura, they will more than likely introduce the type-s in 2011, 3 model years in, with only 2 production years left for it, just like the 2G & 3G

Honda makes all the motors V8's for F1 and as well used to have V10's in racing.

Don't hold your breath

......V8's are slowly becoming extinct....automakers are gradually switching to V6's, supercharged/turbo V6's, or V6 hybrids as the preferred powerplants. The chances of Acura putting a V8 into a TL is about as likely as the Chicago Cubs winning a World Series!

I sure wish the EPA gas mileage rating could be tweaked to 22 mpg for the 2010 TL. I'm sending my kid off to college and I'd love to trade in his old junker and take advantage of the federal electronic voucher program that was tacked onto the appropriations bill. Unfortunately, the TLs are rated at 21 mpg. I think the TSX might be the only Acura that could qualify at 22 mpg.

EPA rating while important is only part of the picture, I get about 20.5MPG around town in my AWD TL, of cours eI have to drive it nicely to get that, but I rarely get below 19 even if I mash it once and a while and 2MPG over a year is not all that much money. over 20K a year it is maybe $300 a year, while not insignificant, when weighed in against a $40K price tage for the car it is not that big of a deal.

Regarding all the speculation here. I doubt there is a V8 in the TLs near future or AWD in the TSXs near future. If the TL were to get a V8 it would have to come after the new RL gets it. Since the debut of the new RL is somewhat 'up in the air' due to the economy, it is hard to say exactly when that would happen. Logically, it would be a marketing disaster to have the all-new flagship 'borrow' the engine from the mid-line car.

As for the AWD TSX, I think there is no way they could do it at the right price. Look at how expensive the V6 TSX is. As we all know, the TSX is a 'world' car and in Europe, the Accord may one day get VTM4 or SH-AWD. In this market, it is appropriate to fit the Accord with these features cause the next step up is the Legend (our RL). They do now sell a TL counterpart there so the Accord gets things that go into our TL. I do see the TL getting CMBS one day, but I doubt it will come in year 2.

I dont see the big deal about CMBS.... Do you know Acura or one of the magazines used the example of elderly person falling asleep or getting sick and or dizzy, and it reduces the amount of the collision since its automatic braking

Provided they give 6AT to TL that will boost its free way mileage on EPA. than maybe u can use federal electronic voucher.

Honda makes the motors for IndyCar series. They unfortunately aren't involved with F1 anymore (as of 2009).

Either way, they definitely have the V8 racing thing figured out.
