3, 2 pre-cats which sit up-stream of the j-pipe, and the 3rd (main) cat which is down-stream of the j-pipe. If you live in an emissions state (not sure if Jersey is one) then you do not want to go to inspection w/o it. Also, if you are an environmentalist, you will want to leave it on.

the 2 "primary cats" are primary. they are the
primary care of emissions.
they are coming right off the heads.

the third cat is the "extra" one to bump us up to the ULEV (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) mark.

I would love to delete the 3rd cat or at least use a HiFlow version. However, in MA I highly doubt it will pass emission tests.

Why bother deleting the converter(s). There is minimal gain in doing so

as long as you have the two primary cats; you'll pass without the third.

there is no sensor on the third cat.
there are 02 sensors on the primary cats tho.

Remember, the third cat allows us to be in the ULEV category.
Civics are only a LEV vehicle.

but agreed with Stew, just deleting the third cat wont gain much hp at all.
However; replacing the two primary cats with straight pipe will net a significant gain

If you're going to delete the third cat I'd recommend doing so by installing one of our V2 j-pipes. This way you'll pick up double digit hp/tq gains and you still won't throw a CEL.
