Canada Market Outlook=good?
I think Acura may have won over many Canadians with the new 4G TL--atleast those who already know about it. And here's why I believe so...
Contrary to what most of the members here say or believe... I personally think the 4G TL will see a good share of sales in Canada. It's got just about everything a typical Canadian would need.... I'm not sure how it is in America though.
Having worked for iSky [now known as TRG Customer Solutions] and making surveys for Honda and Acura I have a fair share of knowledge of what Canadian customers expect or want in their vehicle [and service from the dealership].
I found that customers want what is up-to-date and what is also offered by the competitor. They also want a vehicle that adapts well to Canadian climate/weather and most importantly something spacious, comfortable and 'smooth'. The majority of Canadian customers buy Acuras for it's entry-level-luxury. With that being said the 4G TL seems to have just about it all---now with extra power.
I've also noticed that, in Montreal, there are A LOT of 3G TL owners. Most of these cars are the base model in the 5AT navigational packages.
I would say 2 out of 10 owners have Type-S; 1 out of 10 would have 6spd.
At the same time I see a lot of Nissan Maxima and Nissan Altimas just as much as I see the 3G TL---which is just as much as seeing a Civic. [okay maybe that's slightly exagerated]
In Ontario, I seem to see less 3G TLs on the road though... but a more diverse range of cars.
So in terms of looks and transmission... the 4G may got it down good.
With weather conditions in Canada being one of the major outcomes into vehicle-purchasing... I think Acura did a great thing by offering the SH-AWD to those who think they need it for the winter.
In the East end... snow can get pretty hectic... wind-speeds are enough to make a civilian wobble... weather temperatures can drop to very low numbers [particularly in Quebec] and in the West end... it seems like it rains every other day! [atleast when I lived in VanCity from 02-04].
Many people here switch from the G35 sedan to the G35X for it's AWD just like how most Lexus owners choose to buy the new IS250/350 AWD versus the typical version just because they think it will help during snow.... That might be true but that'll mean almost nothing in Montreal =p. So when you look at the 4G TL, especially after the brochure that Accuratein [sp?] posted, it is nearly the perfect car in it's class [for Canadians].
4G TL is probably a winner up here.
I hope it'll do as good down there.

Where do you get this stuff, as a Canadian this car is not what I want.. technology content is OK but everyone else has similar as well.. comes down to looks and this one is a loser.. I was talking to the GM of my dealership and he is dismayed buy by the level of negativity he is hearing from his existing customers...

I too am a Canadian, and this 4G TL is not for me either.
But give it 350hp and a better looking front-end, and I'll go and put down a deposit for one right away.

From past customers [I survey customers for Honda/Acura, VW/Audi---we had BMW and Mazda USA] they told us what they wanted in their cars that thought were missing. The 4G TL seems to fill in that gap.

^^^^^ I think the survey has missed out on the external styling part.

Well, if it makes any difference I have already taken pre order sales, all of them with the SH AWD with NAVI....so I can say it has a much better response than the 09 TSX did.
