Can I do better?

I'm in the market for a 4G TL Tech with SH-AWD. So far, just via email, I've gotten quotes for around $37,500 with muds, mats, and locks in the greater Boston area. I think I can do better than that, but am wondering what people here think.

Also will letting them know I have an '06 RL non tech with 49000 miles to trade help or hurt? I'm shocked at how much this car has depreciated in just 3 years.

My last Acura ('05 RSX\S) lost less than $1000 in value when I traded it after 2 years. Wish they still made the RSX, but with SH-AWD.

I think thats a good deal since it's about 5K off MSRP. I don't know if you can push it much further down since thats less that FWD Tech MSRP.

Don't tell about the RL until the last minute of negotiations, because sales people like to play with the numbers (ie lower price on TL with lower price on trade, higher price on TL with higher price on trade, etc)

Sounds like a great deal to me if you can get the color combo that you want.

Ditto, for 37K a SH-AWD w/ tech that's a great deal. If I were in the market for a new car, I would jump all over that.

I think someone posted here last month about getting a SH-AWD Tech for $36K.......probably doable with some haggling......heck, who knows, if you wait, even $35K might be a possibility!.....now, we're talking Maxima and Accord territory!

Thanks for the posts...I think I will wait awhile...at least till the end ofthe month...

My real issue is the crap trade in I know I will get for my 06 RL. I thought Hondas were supposed to hold their value...my previous Integras\RSXs sure did.

Well, there's always something better...

I remember back in 07, I got my TL-S w/ High Performance Tire, out-of-the-door for US$ 36800...

I believe I got a pretty excellent deal.

BTW, I bought it in July 2007.

I traded in my 04TL with 34K miles on it and got a great trade. They gave me what I was asking for. Its all how you negotiate.

You can probably thank the current economy for lack-luster trade-in prices and new car prices.
Look what happened to the people here who bought the first batch of 4G's, today they are worth thousands less since new car prices have dropped so drastically

Not really, you can only do so much with a book value that's in the toilet.

My RL is only worth $20k after almost 3 years....that's ridiculous.

Yup, some models just don't hold their value...it depends on continued demand. Now with the new cars being offered at such discounts (2k to dealer), dealers sitting on stock (willing to cut their profit to move inventory), and low financing on new vehicles...plus the consumer uncertainty...it all adds up to used vehicles taking a hit. Let's say you paid MSRP at what...43k for an SHAWD when they first hit...people are walking out with them now for 37-38k @ 2.9 % (which on a 36 month loan is worth 1k+ compared to bank rates). That means even before wear and tear, used up warranty, etc... that car is now worth only 35-36k to the buyer...

The RL is facing the problem of the TL eating up its market until the new RL comes out...as for many people the premium for the RL is not justified given the level of the current TL.

Friend just purchased '09 TL Tech. (w/o SH-AWD) with side molding, splash guards, floor mats, wheel locks, cargo net with "Doc. Fee" waived for $35 G's. Reasonable deal?

That sounds about right in this market. I paid $34,480 out the door for a FWD TL w/Tech. Dealer threw in wheel locks.
