Buying Used TL -Extended Warranty or not?
Buying a 2009 TL SH-AWD Tech with 73k. The dealer offered me an extended warranty for 3years and 36k for $1500 or a 5 year 70k for $2500. Should I even be considering it?

you can shop around at other dealers for an extended warranty. For a car with no warranty at all ( I believe you are beyond the drivetrain too), I would strongly consider it. It all depends on what your paying for the car. Maybe have him knock 500 off the price of the car and you buy the warranty.

You need to know what what kind of extended warranty your dealer is looking to sell you. AcuraCare would be the best and my recommendation, but as SilverJ mentions, I don't think you are eligible for that. I believe they are looking to sell you an aftermarket one and you need to FULLY UNDERSTAND what is covered and what isn't.
Bernardi Honda
Hyannis Honda
Saccucci Honda
are all brick and mortar dealers who are very price competitive on AcuraCare / HondaCare warrantys. There are multiple AZ members who have purchased from all of them. Key is finding out if you are eligible for an AcuraCare warranty.

I called Bernardi Acura of Boston, and they told me AcuraCare will only give me a 2 year 24k warranty for $1700. I spoke with my dealer again, and they just told me it was a third party. Not cool!

Well at least you were smart enough to post here and be/get informed. Still kind of puzzled as to how AOB is quoting and possibly be able to sell you an AcuraCare warranty.

I dunno how effective it would be on the Acura, I opted to not purchase a third-party one on my Mazda or Acura.

What sort of thoughts are you looking for? Pros and cons? Cost? Needed or not? All of the above?

I'd get a newer car that's still within 4yr/50K warranty, then you can add Acuracare.
I would not get 3rd party warranty.

Whether or not you think that an extended warranty is needed. My main concern is a sensor going out and costing me a fortune. Just purchased a 12 Awd Advance and plan on keeping it for some time. 55,000 miles currently. Loving it more every time I get in it.

100% YES, buy an extended, trust me. These are great cars, but things go wrong. As far as your price above, it actually sounds cheap so I wonder if it is any good. Some third party coverage is good. I have a top shelf MPP plan and it has covered a ton on my Odyssey, new steering rack, DVD player, etc... So I have ZERO complaints. But again it is the top plan and pricey. I think I quote a 3 year MPP cover everything plan and it was $2800 for my 2010 with 66k. Yours would likely be less.
I ended up taking a 2 year EVP plan from my bank and it was only $1200, covers everything it should. And I already know it will be worth every penny. DON'T SHOP ON PRICE, look at the plan.
