Burning smell after car is parked

Hey guys:
My 2012 TL which is garaged 24/7 and not used much at all (only 37k) has an issue. I was driving my son to basketball practice which is about 1.5 miles away.
After about an hour we came out to the car and it smelled like burnt rubber. At first I thought it was outside but after parking it in the garage I realized it was MY car.
I checked the oil, does not smell burnt. I looked under the car for plastic bags, didn't see any.
The smell seems to come up AFTER I am driving and have the car parked. No indicator lights have come on. Under the hood doesn't smell bad,
not sure where it is coming form but it is a STRONG burnt rubber(I think that's what burned rubber smells like) smell.
Open to suggestions.

J

check all your brakes after a drive and see if any look/seem hotter than the rest. Could be a stuck brake caliper. Any sort of smoke visible?

I had the same issue with my wife's CSX. Burning smell, and sure enough it was a stuck caliper. Just hold your hand over each caliper after driving for a few minutes and you will feel a ton of heat coming off of one if that is the problem.

If not a brake issue, maybe something is stuck on top of the converter and can't be easily seen.

OK....drove the car a few miles....definitely not the calipers. No heat coming from them, but the smell still comes after I park the car for a few minutes.

Check your coolant reservoir if the coolant level is low.

Since day 1, my '12 AWD TL always has occasional burning smell after been driven. It actually smell like burnt exhaust smell, similar to that from brand new cars.

The coolant has been disappearing mysteriously, even though multiple coolant leak tests have not found any leak.

I suspect that the car is burning coolant intermittently.

has the timing belt been replaced? I remember I had the same issue with my 2010. Had 70k miles last year and could smell like burning oil. Brought it to the dealer and they said a part by the belt was leaking oil and time for it to be replaced. I mentioned it wasnt due yet but they said life is 7 years or I think 100k miles. Had the timing belt, water pump, etc replaced and the smell is gone.

I have a slight burning smell too, but haven't pin pointed it to the front or rear. ('12 AWD TL also)
I need to check my calipers this weekend... I noticed the other night when I had my wheels off that only one brake pad (rear drivers outside pad) had significantly more wear on it than all the other break pads. It only had about 4mm thickness left when all the other pads looked to have around 6mm thickness. Think it could be a stuck piston... or the culprit to my e-brake having a slight amount of roll before it locks the wheels? (drives me nuts!)

This^

I also have an '12 TL 6MT and ever since I got it I also noticed a burning smell after turning off the car. Although the smell is pretty faint and only last a short time after turning off. I had the oil consumption issue so I recently got my pistons, rings, gaskets, timing belt and water pump replaced but the smell hasn't gone. I'm also suspecting the coolant at this point.
