Bumper protection in the city

Hello so taking my 09 TL to NYC and it will get beaten up I know. Any ideas to protect the bumpers? The problem with the 4G TL is that the license plate is in the bumper so the rubber protectors are really useless plus it exposes sides anyways. Any ideas on how to save the bumpers, front and rear from getting scratched daily?

Thanks

I was thinking of getting a bike rack but dont know if it may damage the spoiler and dent the area?

I have a bumper badger that offers protection of the rear bumper. You can get one at pep boys. Stores in the trunk of the car and just folds out over the bumper when you are ready to use.

I have the Bumper guard which protects the front and rear. Then I got a ticket because it covered the plates, then I had someone scratch the shit out my rear bumper. I park in a garage all day and someone in the garage scrapped my rear bumper. There is really no way to prevent from getting it scratched living near the city in NYC.

Spend the extra $$ and get a spot in a garage. There are other parts of the car that can get hit besides the bumpers.

Good luck with trying to kep your bumpers safe in NYC. My nephew lived in the Bronx for 4 years and now he's in Brooklyn and his bumpers are all scruffed to hell.

I guess I'll have to use the bumper bully, really no other option, a garage in manhattan is $300 a month and that's a 10 minute walk

Now thats a wrecked WRX.... If that would have been my ride, I would be out on the street with a baseball looking for the dumba$$ who did that to my car....

As for the bumper protection, may be Saran wrap?!?!

Wow, $$$, ya that is a bit high. Portland runs $110-195. I'm at $136 but it's right across the street from work.
Good Luck!

Find yourself a garage. There are several other incentives to doing this. You can use the garage for storage and leave whenever you want without having to worry about finding a parking spot when you return. The only problem is that sometimes people block my garage and I can't get in/out. Easy solution is to double park next to their car so they can get out. Hahahah

when i visited NYC, i remember seeing a woman getting into a spot... i was horrified.

she pretty much went:
reverse - bump
forward - bump.
reverse - bump
forward - bump.

she didnt care at all that she was hitting the cars.. and it wasnt like she didnt know. u could see her head jerk back n forth when she bumped the cars....

whenever i drive up to manhattan and brooklyn, seems like a high percentage of cars use those flipover bumper guards that's already been mentioned...

Okay so garage is not an option, it's a 10 minute walk and then $300 a month, already paying $2K for a 1 bedroom so these are the options I'm thinking

The bumper blocker seems to be your better option since it cover the side of the bumper as well, tow hitch is a great idea if you would like to protect the middle only,i have also seen people park in NYC and the generally bump the cars in front and at the back of them in order to squeeze in,i have to admit that driving in NYC is somewhat crazy, good luck.
