Blendmount, Escort 9500ix and TL 2012?
Does anyone have this type of setup? And if so does the GPS work effectively with the Blendmount? I attached the radar detector right underneat the mirror today and it does not appear to work with GPS
Biggest reason I went with 9500ix!

Can you be more specific what you mean "working with GPS" The only working with GPS I know of is the GPS app that you download to your phone. the Escorts only work with those. It is not design to work with OEM GPS.

I have that setup and works great.. after about 5 minutes of driving... the detector says that it's connected to GPS. The 9500 will display your current speed, using the internal GPS, when it detects a radar signal.

Stew you do have a 2012 with a blendmount and a 9500ix? The radar is amazing! Red light is my big one, i have 3 tix so far on those darn Red light cameras and and 75 a pop it adds up real quick. The features on this radar are incredible, cutting edge! But my concern is the blendmount and the radar's ability to lock on to GPS. Also the GPS is used for the Red light camera locations.

When i had mine mounted high It took a few moments to aquire GPS but it did and never lost it. I prefer mine mounted down lower as it detects laser better lower.
Also this is a new product that im going to get for my 9500

I tend to not run red lights though

wtf your red light tickets cost 75 each?
here i cali its like 400 bux..
also we dont need radars here... kind of useless if you say.. too much traffic to even have cops bust out the radar gun..

As someone who has tested detectors with real police radar guns, I can't stress enough how important location of the unit is in relation to it's effectiveness. Middle of the window with a clear line of sight out the back window is the best.
In addition, the front mount radar jamming unit we tested actually made the car MORE visible. My guess is the "Laser Jammers" are also a waste of 500 hard earned dollars.
The Belltronics preformed well, but the Valentine One was the clear winner with excellent laser detection and that awesome Radar Locator and easy to read Bogey Counter.

Thanks for alerting me about Blendmount... I wasn't even aware of such a product. I might get one now...

Do you get an audible alert? Do you have a 9500ix? All I see is what appears to be some satellite type icon on the right hand side that spins then becomes idle.

"Eh-um, I guess you didn't look in your rear-view mirror before pulling that U-ey," said the cop...

Let me get back to you on that I just got it 3 months . I do get red light camera alerts perhapsi have not been paying attention. I know there is no gps found alerts.

There are audio alerts that do sound off to Ka, K and Laser alerts. Still no GPS audio alert. Concerned that a blendmount would obstruct the GPS from working properly. I am going to try and run some test, I guess I can mount it under the mirror and run through some red lights

Well I tried to hardwire my Escort 9500ix to the back of the mirror and all I get is ticking sounds. Not sure what the deal is? I need to take a meter to the back of the connector on the mirror and test for the proper voltage. Sounds to me like there is not enough voltage coming from the mirror. The power cable is the one on the drivers side and the ground is the middle, correct? I have a 2012 TL and I am sure others have hardwired to the back of the mirror I have read it on the forums!

I have it wired to the mirror on the TL. Don't remember which pins, but I used a multimeter to test for 12v.
The only odd thing is that my radar detector turns off when the car is in reverse...

I am going to put a multimeter to it tomorrow and I just verified the connector and the wires, the positive and negative are where they need to be. I am just not too sure if the mirror is providing the proper voltage or not? Does anyone have this wired to the mirror to a 2012 TL?

I found this:
This was a piece of cake, even for my 64-yr old eyes and arthritic hands. Start to finish about 45 minutes and 30 min. of that was spent looking for things I had a few weeks (or was it years) ago ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I tied-in my Escort R/D to the back of the mirror plug. There's 3 wires back there and the cable unplugs from the mirror. The 12v "hot" wire is the one on the passenger side of the connector. The ground is the center wire. I used about 8~10" of black telephone cord (the flat stuff that usually only comes in a silver-satin color).
I -did- use my soldering iron to "tin" the leads and make them stiffer. They really do just shove-in and bind against the existing wires quite nicely. I used a couple miniature (also black) ty-wraps (not twist-ties, aka bread ties) to provide good strain relief & thus prevent my added wires from being pulled out.
The radar detector itself is attached to the windshield with the std. suction cup mount that the Escort (Solo 2) comes with. It's mounted high enough as to be out of sight from both the front and the rear (hidden by the mirror) - ergo the driver really can't see it either, but you shouldn't need to as all I'm interested in is the audio alert tone.
Looks good and easily un-done if the need ever arises.

I did exactly what he said he did, could be the cable I am using? I made my own, not really hard just matched the pin out. I took an old telephone cable and cut off 6 inches and matched the pins. I guess I must be doing something wrong. Dont want to fry my $500 detector either! I ordered a cable from ebay, guess I will wait for that one too.
What cable are you using?

Stew what model do you have of the blendmount? BBE-2000?

Stew, does the stealthcord have an inline fuse? How are you protecting (electrically) the radar detector? Is there a proper fuse downstream?
