Best wiper blades
While my TL is in for service, I got to thinking. The stock wiper blades are horrible. I know blades perform differently depending on the shape and size of the windshield. So what blades have acurazine 4G TL readers had positive experiences with?

My experience is that the stock blades work well, and are designed to fit your windshield. I don't change mine other than when they wear out

I have them on my TL too, no issues at all...
the bosch's seem exactly the same, is there any real difference?

I've had terrible luck with aftermarket blades re: not fitting, poor wiping action and short service life.
I began using strictly OEM blades about 10 years ago; replace every 6 months and life is good.

Nothing wrong with the OEM ones. Is the windshield already coated? Water seems to bead like when I apply Rain-X on my other cars. In the 4 years I had my 3G, I never had issues with the OEM wipers either. Even in very heavy snow.

Try doing a good cleaning on the windshield - you may have something on it that's causing your problem. I find that when my wife takes her car through the drive-through car wash the visibility goes to crap because of the stuff they put on the car. It usually takes a few hand washings to get that stuff off the windshield. Until then, I get the same issues you're describing.
Try some Invisible Glass or a product like that.
Good luck.

Get a claybar and use it on your windshield. I've done that for years and it prolongs the life of the wiper blades as well as makes the water just wick right off. It's like using rain-x but lasts for many months.

i dont really see what a clay bar would do...i know it will pick up the debris that is embeded into the glass, but its not going to put anything on the windshield itself...i use the same sealant (4*upp) on my windshield that i use on my paint when i detail my car...you dont even need your wipers on when i do that, and it last for a while...

It doesn't seem like it would do anything, but I've been doing it for years. I even did it to my wife's car one time when I gave her car a wash and she couldn't believe the difference. I'm guessing by removing all the embedded stuff in the glass and leaving the surface smooth the water has nothing to get "stuck" on. I'm sure if we had someone here who knew more about fluid dynamics they could explain better.

My 4g blades are 15 months old...and I am now having too much stuttering even with Rain-X. Most of my other vehicles had OEM wipers that lasted much longer.
Those who are using the rain-x latitude and bosch icon...how stutter free and quiet are they?
Thanks

really quiet and almost zero stutter even before I replaced them. my car has auto wipers and sometimes they swipe when there is very little to no water on the windshield and the blades don't seem to care (no streaking noise or stuttering).

I have Goodyear wiper blades on all of my vehicles. If you are a Costco member they are on sale for $11 a wiper and there is a coupon for BOGO.

Icons
Started using them in 2006, haven't looked back since. Fantastic blades. In fact, I took them off after a year on my 07 Element when I traded it, they sat in the basement until December 09 when I mounted them on my '10 Element. They work perfectly, quiet, streak-free, clean wipe every time. No more switching between winter/summer blades.
It's about the 1st thing I do when I get a new vehicle, trot over to AutoZone for a set. There's usually a coupon floating around or a rebate, so I've never paid retail.

Very, very easy, no tools required. It's a shepherds crook mount, you just raise the blade off the glass, rotate the blade towards 90 degrees to the wiper arm, depress the retaining clip (if there is one) and push the blade towards the windshield. It will slide right off the mount. Installation is the reverse.

I checked reviews on Amazon...the latitude and icon don't rank so great. I'm thinking of just going with OEM replacement blades (just the rubber blades). They only cost $6 a piece...even if they only last 6 months that works out ok. Anyone tired replacing just the rubber blades?
Thanks!
Thanks!

^^^Replaced the Bosch Icons on the Lude with these because there was some kind of a sale on them at AutoZone. Worked great for the first month or two and have sucked ever since. Will be going back to the Bosch Icons before snow hits.

I bought the oem blade inserts for $6 each and they sweep really clean but I'm still getting the stuttering...perhaps there's a break in period? I hope it goes away...for $6 I wouldn't mind replacing as often as needed. If not I'll have to try the icons. Already applied rain-x.

bosch icon +1 the only downside for the icon is: there is no refill for them, you have to replace the whole thing every year (i replace mine before winter comes)....but with a price of ~40 for a pair, it's worth it.

these are the best blades IMO, very quite and last really long, we'll worth the few extra bucks
