Battery Recommendations?
Battery Recommendations?
Replacing the OEM as I keep getting low signal alerts. Trying to stay away from OEM and dealership. Any opinions out there? I was looking at the Red top Optimas... a little pricey though.
My battery went out after 2 years and was replaced under warranty by Acura. I have to say, the new OEM battery has held up quite well, now going on 6 years.
Take a look at Consumer Reports. They frequently run ratings on car batteries.

I've had an Interstate battery that worked in my Legend for 7 years. I replaced that with an Optima Redtop, and I'll never buy another one. They're fine when they work, but when they don't, they just suddenly don't... When my Redtop failed after 2 or so years, I'd started the car with no problems and drove it 30 miles home from work, got back in the car 2 hours later for a grocery run, and the car was dead. After first thinking it was a bad alternator due to getting a jump and having the car die again 5 minutes later, a local shop figured out that the battery had just completely given up and the alternator was fine. Put in a new lead-acid battery, and everything was fine. Had the Redtop decided to fail 1 hour earlier, I'd have been stranded at work since it just completely gave up without any warning.
My OEM Acura battery in the TL worked for 7-8 years until this past weekend when the single digit Northeast temps finally started to get to it. Would barely start on Monday, so I just went to the local Sears for a 725 CCA DieHard Gold. They're 15% off, so paid $150 out of pocket (including $10 install fee, waiting on my $10 core refund) and 3 year warranty.

Bosch AGM Battery is your best bet. You can buy it online and use a coupon code at a variety of retailers to save a lot of money! Pepboys had 30-40% off coupons that I've used for batteries and done pickup in store.
AGM batteries will last about 2x as long as they are different! You get a better warranty and more life for a battery that's going to cost a bit more than a standard lead acid.

I just installed one of these a few weeks ago

Well... just had a terrible experience at Pep Boys. I finally decided on a Bosch Platinum and after an hour of waiting almost nothing will fit in my Acura TL because of the reverse set up and length of cables. I tried Optima 35 redtop and everything else decent they offered. I had to settle with a Champion of which I never heard of. Pretty ticked off- hopefully this champion is decent.
