Anyone Else Messed Up Their Front Underlip Spoiler?
Jeez, is it ever low to the ground. No matter how careful I am I seem to scrape it on a pretty regular basis. The way I figure it, I'll wait until I get a few scratches or dings and have it all repaired at once.
Why the hell do they make that little plastic lip under the front bumper come down so close to the ground?
It's not as if the damn car is a Ferarri after all.
Sheesh!!!

No troubles with mine yet really...
the black plastic thing under the car, is actually designed to be scraped. it helps keep your bumper/front lip kit off the
all my other cars were so low to the ground, that i am always super cautious when pulling in/out of driveways and ramps

I'm not worried about the lip getting scraped as long as the front painted lip of the car does'nt get scraped.
Yes they do make a lot of cars that way. My daughters 2003 Maxima has no black lip at all and it has a few scrapes in the font end on the painted part. I'm glad it's underneath the car so you have to get on your knees to see it or I see it when the cars up on the a lift.
Ya just got to be real careful!

I haven't had any issues with my lip kit, I have only scrapped that black part that hangs down and I think thats saved me once or twice from hitting my lip.
So far so good and we haven't had much snow in Toronto either this year so I haven't scraped it on any snow banks yet either.
KNOCK ON WOOD!!

It's pretty low -- hits wheel stops in parking lots at least half the time -- I've learned to just stop short of curbs when nosing in. Some problems with tight transitions in parking garages and sometimes dips in the road, but not too bad.
I agree, it's flat black plastic so it doesn't get too messed up when it hits. I don't think it is there to protect the painted parts... that could have been done higher -- or not at all, as the painted parts are not that low. Probably some attempt at ground effects.

The front underlip spoiler is probably my biggest little gripe with the 4G TL, esp when I go up my steep driveway to the garage.
If I go up the driveway heading in via a left turn, I always scrape the spoiler. For some reason unknown still, I've found out if I go up the driveway heading in via a right turn, I do not scrape the spoiler. A little annoying, as I now have to make a 3 point turn (if I want to avoid scraping the spoiler) when heading back up the garage. My 1G TSX and IS did not have this little driveway issue.
Not sure if I should blame the driveway or the car

My 3G is the same way. Driveway curbs are the worst.

Conversely, now that I think about it, perhaps it is my weight on the driver's side that "squashes" the spoiler just enough for a scraping. I may have to find a lightweight person to try driving the TL up the driveway (now if only the wife can drive stick).
