Anyone do clear bra installation in Austin, TX?

Has anyone here ever gone to Sun Tint in Austin, TX for clear bra installation and if so, comment on their work? They're pushing this "Clearshield" and don't use the 3M scotchgard stuff.

Thanks!

Hey Austinite, I've had Suntint do both my Legend coupes and both my CLSs. as far as tint, I've never had flaws, peeling, bubbles etc.
My CLS had clearbra on it when I got it, but it had wax build up on the edges, and some gaps from the install so i removed it after a while, (not easy!) and was surprised how yellow it was. It left an edge line too. I assume never versions are better, and I think they do a lot of good. I'd advise covering the lights with the thicker material. hardly noticeable.

I just wanted to report back to the forum about my experience with Suntint in austin.

I ended up doing a clearshield install on the entire front end of the car plus side mirrors which came out to just shy of $500. The installation was done almost 3 weeks ago and here are my comments about the experience.

Before the install, I visited them to check out their work and they showed me some comparisons between clearshield, 3M and ventureshield. The clearshield definitely felt like a harder material than the 3M and venture. The guy put a sample of each on my car and I was able to scratch the 3M and venture with my fingernails. If anything, there were visual depression marks and on the clearshield, i didn't see those. The guy followed that up with a paint thinner test (not on my car, on his counter) where he wetted a towel with paint thinner and wiped it over each sample. The ventureshield turned opaque white while 3M and clearshield looked fine. The guy said the paint thinner test was meant to show the chemical resistance of the films.

So a few days later, i took the plunge and went for the install. The install took about 6hrs, they washed the car before the install and did the install in a side garage. It seems like the actual application of the film to the car took about 4hrs and the remainder of the time was to let the car sit outside and bake in the hot texas sun the anneal the film. I can't comment on the install procedure since I wasn't there to witness it. What I can say was that i was impressed with the end result. They did a wrap around on the hood so the film wraps around the edges of the hood. On the headlights, the film also covered the ~ 6" indentation. The film is nearly invisible when looking at the car head on. You can see the line when you look at it from behind the car. The entire bumper including the area under the air-scoops were covered. The first 24" of the hood was covered along with about 12" of the first fenders.

My car has gone through 3 assembly-line style car washes without issue since the install and dirt/bugs comes off of it with a simple towel wipe. Overall, I thought Suntint did a great job and gave great explanations before the sale. It looks seamless even upon close inspection so I highly recommend putting some kind of clear bra on for peace of mind from your paint job.
