Any good info on when '12 MMC will be out?

I keep hearing the 2012 MMC will release early and with the mule photos out for a while now I would guess that means they are about ready. I know when Acura releases early it is usualy April, but any news if it may be earlier? While I am still not convinced the face lift will be enough to win me back I do miss Acura and the SH-AWD, my M37s is nice, but Infiniti electronics SUCK! Also hoping for a Type-S in 2012 MMC can't wait to see that!

The build out for the 2011 TL is in January which would set them up for a April release of the 2012. That said, if they have a large supply of 2011 vehilcles on the ground and unsold, don't be surprised if the 2012's get held up at the factory so they can clean house of the 2011's.

Keith is a natural Acura enthusiast. He just got swayed by the dark side (for the moment).

I have a hunch Keith will be back in an Acura in 2011. As nice as the Infiniti is, it's hard to beat SH-AWD and Acura's interior

It is a sexy car that rides nice, but the electronics suck. The bluetooth in it is awful, people always say it is not as good as my Acura's were and if you get a call while on the phone the BT drope the BT connection and thus the call. Voice Command in Infiniti is a joke, maybe 2 dozens commands and it always struggles to recognize them. And their NAV is horrible, it works 2 different ways depending on whether you are entering NAV via voice or touch screen. The car si also a little sloppy in the handling department, nothing too bad, but noticable coming from a SH-AWD. And the Engine at idel has a weird soudn that makes the car sound poorly put togther. The Audio system is Nice, not as crisp and clean ad the ELS, but still good.
I will say I love the 7AT considering this car has 30+ HP more than my SH-AWD did and is pulling same weitgh I get almost 10% better MPG and it is a smooth pulling rocket since it has range of gears. I also love the 4 position performance knob, allows you to pick SNOW/ECO/STD/SPORT to adjust throttle response and shift points.

Well I have an early April cut-off if I am not out of the M37s then I will likely keep it until year end 2011 or March 2012 so I hope they ship sooner than later!

It is actually pretty cool, ECO mode makes throttle seem less responsive and makes shifts so you get bet MPG. STD mode is perfect, good acceleration decent shift points, car perfroms well. SPORT mode the throttle has quick tip in and tranny holds the shifts kepping the revs up and the car super responsive, you never see 7th unless you are coasting.

Nope! They gotta get rid of the '11s first before they show the '12. You think they'd want buyers to wait for the '12s 'cause it('12) looks better, and not buy the '11s?

We haven't even seen the '12 - so there is no way to know if it's actually better, or if in their attempt to change it they made it worse...

They don't typically make a point of 'unveiling' an MMC at an auto show unless it was already on sale. I'd say it would be too early but you never know... they haven't made too many '11s so if dealer inventories are lower than 30-45 days, they might.

Honda has a way of releasing models just after my tipping point of losing patience on waiting for them and then buying the current model. I would guess by July 2011, we might just see the new MMC possibly. I have been burned numerous times in the past and I would think I would learn each time. I'll be very patient this time.

The last time was in 2005 when the new 06 Pilot came out in Summer of that year- months after I bought an 05 in April. Didn't see that one coming. I had other experiences in the past like in 1985 with a Prelude purchase when the Si came out months afterwards and then initially in 1975 as a kid when the 76 CR125 Motocrosser came out. Honda is very tight-lipped on stuff but it's a lot easier getting details with the Internet these days.

MMC is certain, but July introduction seems a little late. Production of '11s ends in January.

Well I'm hoping for availability by April 10th, which might be good if they start building the 12's in Febraury figuring 4-8 week lead time. I am getting real itchy today especially after my latest fiasco with Infiniti Service and the M37 crappy electronics. Actually went and test drove a Volvo T6 S60. Not a bad car, very quiet and handled very well, the Turbo 6 was very responsive. Their NAV screen is gorgeous, but a bit complicated. I am intesested in their Tech Package with all its goodies, just have huge heart burn given the Chinese my money directly (and I am not meaning to start a flame war here), yes I know much of what we buy is made their but at least I'm not directly supporting them and I try to avoid buying Chinese products as much as possible, just getting harder these days! As a side note (and no laughing) I went to see aLincoln as well, more becasue I was interested in Ford Sync and must Say Sync is very impressive, the NAV screen had excellent res, nice colors and crip display and the voice controls rivaled anything Acura has done and makes Infiniti looks like a joke.

I'm not saying you should definitely buy the TL, but I'm gonna say you definitely should not buy the Volvo. Horrible depreciation, poor reliability, uncertain future. If you are unhappy with the electronics in your Infiniti, I can't imagine you'll be happy long term with a Volvo.

Soooo true. Volvo repair and maintenance costs are just too expensive as well as replacement parts. But if you only keep your cars for 1-2 years than you should be ok.

Actually Volvo now throws in all scheduled maintenace during warranty period, and all wear items, they said all I buy is tires. The S60 according to CR seems to have decent reliability.

They can throw in all the service and based on your history, you'll be out of the car before the warranty is up but your time still has to be worth something to you and finicky Volvos can need a lot of trips to the service department. On top of that most manufacturers who are including service in the price of the car are also extending service intervals to the max to minimize their costs. I live in an area where Volvos are very prevalent, there are 3 Volvo dealers in the state I work in and 7 more in the state that I live in. It is also part of my job to inform people what their trade in is worth. The only people who are more consistently upset with their trade value than the Volvo owners are the Land Rover owners and the people who bought an Audi A8 brand new.

As an example, I recently had an 06 S60R with about 60K on it. The car eventually sold for about 12K. It was a 50K car when it was brand new. Even the Acura RL (Also a 50K car and Acura's worst depreciating vehicle) would still sell in the low to mid 20K range in that scenario.

Not so much I find fault, I get bored and want a fresh car. The 4G was an awesome car, just hatde the muted color and beak, I ironically of all my TLs my 4G lasted the longest at 19 months, my 04 made it 22 months, the others were around a year each. I love the M37s, but miss Acura build and ride.

Well, I hope they make it better, because I'm ready to give up my 2004 TL w/MT. I was ready to buy a 2010 TL SH-AWD once they offered a MT, but the horrid design of the nose and tail turns me off.

If the 2012 isn't a noticeable improvement, I'll keep the 04 running, waiting for something that excites me.

I'm not sure you're going to get a massive change until the next gen TL. I'll probably hold off until then to possibly replace my 3G. I'm interested in seeing how the new grill and butt on the '12 TL will look, though. Hopefully they won't do a 180 with the car and make it look utterly boring.

Thats my fear is that in their quest to make something less polarizing, they actually end up with a car that looks like everything else on the road.

Your right on with your answer. I don't think the basic design is going to change. They are not going to make that type of investment so early on. The major chnage will come with the next gen.
And yes if they screw too much with the front and rear facias they will take away the edginess of the car imo.

No hate from me here. I'm just giving him a little grief because of the first time I saw his sig and said to myself, "no freaking way". lol. I like his reviews of cars and the pro's and con's he's pointed about with regards to the M37 and the 4G TL. It's helped me out immensely. I'll be happy if he gets the bug again and is one of the first to get the 5G because I may be looking to switch out my car by then (unless my 3G falls apart by then).

I already stopped at my dealer and told them to call me when they can order the 2012 Type-S

I enjot the M37S, but just don't feel it is worth the $$$. I have honestly thought about going to a TSX for a year to 18 months to free up some cash to do some home renovations, but we'll see. I actually think the TSX is assembled tighter than the M37!! And at least Acura electronics are far superior to Infiniti.

I actually like the look of the TSX with the V6. Throw in an AWD option and I would have probably bought one of those instead.

Yeah a AWD option is need for the TSX, but I was thinking a DI-4 Turbo, V6 weighs the fonr end down too much.

So to kind of revive this tread, had anyone heard wether it will be the Chicago or New York auto show that will debut the '12 TL? It has to be one of those.

Just an FYI guys...I've been working with several dealers the last couple of weeks there will NOT be a Type-S in 2012. In fact that stated not to expect a Type-S till the 5th generation TL. Acura is not planning to release the Type-S because the SH-AWD is basically their Type-S right now in the 4th generation TL.

Just like one dealer stated, what else can Acura do to make a Type-S? Add a different body kit to the bottom the car? The SH-AWD already has all the options you could want and comes with the bigger engine. So those of you hoping and waiting for a Type-S in 2012, I wouldn't give your hopes up for it. I do know the dealer also said that the 2012 will probably be the last year for the 4th generation TL and expect to see a big change for the 2013 which will then be the 5th generation TL.

As I have an 08 TL Type-S now, I'd love to have one in the 4th generation and tried to wait before picking up my new car this weekend. Just like many of the dealers told me there will not be a Type-S this year, but the nose and back end will get the change which has been confirmed here already.

Quick Reply: Any good info on when '12 MMC will be out?
