Acura TL Envy
No big deal but Mrs. ExGMan's BMW 530xi had to make a trip (driven by me) to the dealer for some service yesterday. The Missus was "forced" to take the TL for the day. Long story short, at the end of the day she said the TL was "pretty nice" and "fast." This was from a driver who likes to haul along in the LH lane in her BMW much of the time.
Major feature she liked (other than handling and acceleration) was the rear-view camera for parking.
45 years of marriage and still there are some surprises.

I don't know the horsepower of the E60 530i (which I suppose that is what your wife has) but I can tell you that with my old 2002 Maxima back in the days I was spanking E39 530s left and right......
No wonder she likes the TL....

Seems to me that the TL automatic transmission adapts much more quickly to throttle position changes, and also that the torque is available at lower RPMs. I like the seating position in the Bimmer a little better, but the TL gets moving in a way that I like a lot.

SatV..for a guy who does not care about performance you have more kill stories then I do, all against BMW's too, way to go.
Engine is most likely an N52B30 The N54 is a 3.0L 300HP turbo.

I like to accelerate with my car, never did a "professional" drag race though....never clocked or anything.
Bimmer drivers are often, let's say, very "competitive", "confrontational", I'm sure you know that...
I know the 530 E39 very well, one of my co-worker had one (he bought couple of months before I got my Maxima).....it is what I call a "real estate agent" Bimmer...very nice car to drive but not particularly fast.
The 2002 manual Maxima was a truly stop light demon (for a large sedan) in sheep clothing at the time...it did surprise a lot of people....

Expect you never did an amateur one either. Maybe I should start thumping the TL's that try to goad me instead of just ignoring them incase one might be you. Must be some TL vs. BMW thing, ‘bout the only thing worse are guys in Mini-Vans.

Just leave people be. I'm on your side a lot of the time when it comes to people thumping their chest, doing side by side comparos, and exaggerating the prowess of their 45K vehicle, making it out to be a 60K performance beast. But the bottom line is you aren't the keeper of BMW's chastity and honor, and the schtick just gets old. It exasperates potential new members who MIGHT want to jump in a conversation. And it just makes you look bored.
I'm done. I'll go back to lurking now. Wouldn't want you to think I was an Acura fanboy or a BMW hater. If anything, I'd like you to think of me as someone who just can't fathom why people have to continually jump in and justify their presence in a certain place in the first place. I'd expect you to think the same way if I was on BMW forums all the time to talk about my TL. Neat.

She had ridden in it however, liked the sound system, and gave it a clear sign of approval by falling asleep in the passenger seat on the way back to Boston from Philly.
She never liked the vehicle which the TL replaced: 2002 Toyota Tundra Ltd.

The TL does impress. Friends and family with BMW/Porsche/Benz/Audi all can appreciate the package it delivers.
Provided you accept the car for what it is, it just delivers the goods in an enjoyable practical way.

It shows up as a location in a lot of W.E.B Griffins books.
