Acura TL 4G best upgrades in 2019-2020
#3
I've got to figure out whether I can get one of my 19" wheels repaired (slight flat spot on the outer rim from a massive pot hole, losing about 1-2psi per day) or if I need to get a whole new wheel.

I ask myself that question everyday but find the 4G TL perfection at it's finest.

Better brakes are always welcome in my book so I went ahead and upgraded pad compound. Front A-Spec Kit is a really good purchase that makes the car look much more sportier. Other than that, I'd have to say exhaust changes. Other than that it's the typical stuff like the ghost LED Acura lights and other ebay stuff.

If you are looking for ideas, take a peek at my build thread. I think you will find a good range of Options .

Like Justn said, it all about your preferences. For me, it was largely performance. More function over form. I was happy enough with suspension and the stock appearance. The only appearance mod I've done is blacking out the front grille.
RV6 J-pipe and HFPC's
Magnaflow Mufflers
3.7 TL Throttle Body and Intake Manifold (if you have the FWD TL)
Polished the bolt ons with K-tuner
Osram Nightbreaker Laser HID's
Morimoto Foglights
LED Switchback turn/parking lights
Antigravity Lithium battery. 2.2Lbs as opposed to 35Lbs lead-acid battery.
17" O.Z. Alleggerita HLT 14.1 Lb wheels. Replaced 26 Lb stock wheels.

My TL is my daily outside sales ride, so I stayed away from suspension and wheel upgrades except for 25mm spacers.
Tinted the windows, Weathertech mats and window visors, endlessrpm seat covers, 20% tint, WiFi, Navtool w/Apple TV 4th gen, custom fiberglass 10” sub enclosure, 2 way remote start, repacked stock mufflers with Cherry Bomb Saultes+dual tips, and wrapped the front and rear in Volcanic Flares.

Any issues with cold mornings or winter with it being Li?? And I was told by a local shop that our cars stock CCA requirement is up around 700, which model do you have (I assume that was a generic pic)... any issues with your electrical systems? Thanks for any insight you have!

@losiglow hey, tell me about this battery... do you have one in your car? I saw this brand at SEMA this past year and have been curious ever since.

No problems with electrics but I have had the "replace battery" light come on a few times. I'm assuming this might be due to the low capacity of the battery. It's never stayed on more than about a minute, and has only happened maybe a half dozen times over the last 6 months. It's not meant to power all the accessories very long without the car on either. I've listened to the radio and left the parking lights on for a good 15 minutes before with no problem. But I wouldn't keep the headlights on more than a few minutes.
If I were to do it again, I'd get the ATX-20. It's about $100 more but has more cranking amps. The thing is, unlike the AGM batteries I've had in the past, the lithium ion batteries are supposed to last a pretty long time. Small AGM's tend to last about a year. I'm told the lithium's last much longer. It had better considering I pad $200 for it! No regrets though. Losing all that weight on the front end is great.

@losiglow Awesome, great info! Thank you for the response and good advice about limiting accessory time w/o the engine on.
I fear [what I believe to be the original] battery is nearing the end of its life... which is always a great chance to upgrade things.

Im doing a mix of aesthetics and performance. The 4th gen TL's don't have the greatest aftermarket performance support, but the stuff they have available do make a bit of a difference. These cars arent the best for a track car even though some people have done it and had some nice results but it is a 4000lbs luxury sedan at the end of the day. Five must do mods in my opinion is lowering the car, getting some wheels you like, getting the a-spec kit, painting the grille, and tinting the windows a minimum of 20% i found these 5 mods really help the car look better i find the stock look extremely ugly but thats just my opinion. Aesthically i like how my car looks now the only things i would change are switching my wheels to 19" and going lower.

If you're looking to pickup some power, without breaking the bank, a Jpipe is always a great place to start! The OEM pipe merges the pipes off the pre-cats together at a very aggressive angle - and has a third cat (with no sensors) hidden in it. Our Jpipe not only looks the part, but it merges the pipes off the pre-cats together at a much less aggressive angle than the OEM. It uses larger diameter piping, and removes the third cat without causing a check engine light. You should see about 12hp/12ftlbs worth of gains from just bolting that on. We had done a 3.5L a little while back with a Jpipe, intake, catback, and tune which picked up about 25hp/20ft-lbs.
You can find the Jpipe for the FWD online HERE, and one for the AWD HERE.
If you are looking for advice on some specific parts please feel free to send us an email or PM! Happy modding!
