4G to TLX A-spec?
Anyone else with a 4G considering making the move or already has made this move? I'd like a bit of feedback for anyone who has done it. I have a 2012 Base TL, I've made quite a few visual and handling modifications to make the car a little more fun but I'm still considering making the move. It's the first time in a while I've been excited about a Acura product. Obviously bonuses are lots of updated tech along with AWD, but I'm struggling with whether it's worth it to make the move when my TL is working perfectly and it's paid off. My TL has 40K miles on it so it's nearly mint inside and out.

For me, the attraction will be heated steering wheel (if can be swapped from ADV to A-spec) and split folding rear seats. However, I have to trade the clutch for it... Will need to take a test drive to see if the new car is as sporty as the 4G before casting a vote...

I have to agree with justnspace, I would stick with having a paid off car. Especially since the FWD 4G TL has a pretty good reliability record, now if you had an AWD burning oil that might be a different story.
I really like my 6 speed, but having to add 2-3 quarts of oil between oil changes is getting old. Acura has left a sour taste in my mouth, 1 quart per 1k miles is unacceptable. I've owned nothing but Honda/Acuras my whole life, but this will be my last Honda/Acura.

Hello,
I just drove an 18 A-Spec, nice ride. I have been at my Acura dealership a lot lately and have heard rumors that the 2019 will have electric assist. I ordered a MDX sport hybrid and just got it, amazing and 27mpg in town. If the next TL has electric assist it should rule the category. I have to admit I am still in love with my 2011 TL...with mods of course.
Cheers

I actually have several feelers out there but it is hard to pay double what a car sold for. My local dealer has 2 white new ones for almost a year now...hell of a car but feels like playing a video game.

If it's paid for that would be tough for me. All depends on the situation as all of our is different and unique. I would test drive one, see how much they are willing to offer you for trade and figure out the monthly payments to see if it's worth it or not. I'm also considering trading mine in but I investing a lot of money also into it and it's a 6MT.
I add 1 quart between oil changes. 2-3 is a lot.

Lots of good discussion here, I'm really on the fence but I'm leaning towards just hanging onto the TL for a while longer. Reasons I was considering the trade was because I've grown a bit tired with my TL, and it's beginning to have a couple of annoying older car issues like, one mirror is starting to turn brown, my headlights are getting some condensation in them etc.
Honestly I don't need a new car, I just have the same problem 90% of other car guys have, you've done all you're going to do to your car and you want the bright shiny new model.

I recommend sticking with your 4g, such a beautiful car that now looks better to me than most of the cookie cutter crap manufacturers are spewing out. The a-spec is a gimmick and will be replaced with a performance variant with more power sooner than later. If u like the tlx and plan to stick with acura id hold off until they get their performance trim out

I own two TL's but tiring of the brand and either going with A5 Sportback or GS350 AWD. Loved the A5 and that 2.0 was surprisingly fast. GS felt to big but I do like the reliability factor. And the IS was to small.

Still digging on my '14 ADV as well, I did the online build your own a week ago, seemed like the A-Spec wasn't worth the extra $$ for a few options, a badge or two, and extra weight for body moldings. I am under 40k miles, plan on passing it on to my daughter who is approaching 16 way too fast.

I was looking at the a-spec, since my 12 Adv awd has about 89k miles on it. Need new tires, water pump, and timing belt needs to be replaced soon and all 4 brakes need to be replaced.
Not sure if it is worth jumping into higher car payments with the new car. My TL is not paid off yet.

I am waiting for a new 3.5 or 3.0 turbo A-spec from Acura until then I will still enjoy my 2012 tl-awd. She got already 50k (km) on it!!!

Same here. Only way I'd part with my '10 6MT is if they offer a turbo A-Spec at some point. I too have flirted with the idea of an S3, RS3, S5 Sportback and... I just can't do it. My '10 has 120k on it and has been an absolute dream to own. It's not paid off, sadly, but I'll happily take the small payment I have on it versus what it would be on something newer and comparable.

I wont trade up until Acura offers the 3.0L v6 Sport-Hybrid setup for the Acura TSX I cannot see that happening until the full redesign.
It's clear that the future is going to be smaller engines + electrification. It's the only way to hit fleet 54.4 MPG by 2025

The more I think this over the more I realise how small of a step it would be going from my 4G to a TLX A-Spec. I've pretty much decided that if the right incentive or deal comes up for an Infiniti Q50S Redsport I might make that move, otherwise I'm hanging onto the TL.

I think that's a wise choice. I have a feeling the 2nd Gen TLX will be a bit bigger to really grab the attention of the 4G and larger sedan buyers. I was excited about the Aspec also but now that has gone away because it's still the TLX with a few nice changes and upgrades. It is still bland inside and has that huge hump in the rear seat.
