I thought somebody might find this interesting. I use my TL occasionally as an emergency response vehicle. In such it is equipped with a full package of strobe lights as well as a 200 watt siren. See the links below for video. It is a 2012 TL SH-AWD...

Crazy, definitely a unique mod. Has the 127mph limiter ever affected your ability to respond to an emergency?

Well it tends to be frowned upon to go those kinds of speeds when responding... so not really... what gets me more is the slow low end take off with the AT...

Anytime the TL is on scene I always get compliments on it... believe it or not people yield to the TL better than most marked emergency vehicles... it could be the spectacle but as long as they get out of my way they can stare as long as they can see my tail lights...

I feel you on those laggy take offs. Now that the Florida heat is back its definitely a little more pronounced. Adding the jpipe helped a bit and didn't effect the sound really.

have you done the throttle body coolant mod?
coolant routes through the throttle body; heating up the IAC making the ECU think its hotter than it really is.

I agree, I just traded my 2012 TSX for a 2013 TL and I am a little disappointed in the take off as well. I'm not sure but I think it has to do with the 6 A/T. I noticed in the TSX that I was able to downshift to 1st when engine breaking and in the TL this is not possible. Also when in sport mode in the TSX it would hold 1st gear until you manually changed it, even if the fuel cut off was reached, again not possible in the TL, it will automatically change out of 1st around 4500 rpm whether in sport mode or not. I also noticed that when in automatic mode it starts off in 2nd gear, not 1st.

Glad to know its not just me. I have family up in the mountains and am often on 10%+ grade private roads and it won't let me downshift to first. It just blinks at me, even though I am going 10 Mph. Then I have to ride the breaks which annoys me. However, this is my first auto, so I its still better than I expected.
