30 Miles on the "New" TL that I am going to buy
So there I was, all set to buy the new TL and the one they have that matches my model and color already has 30 miles on it. When I took delivery of my 2005 TL, it only had 2 miles on it. Is this a big deal? What would you folks do?

ok so the car you want to buy was test driven a few times....why are you making a big deal out of it? i can't imagine there being any issues with the car with a whole whopping 30 miles on it at time of purchase. now if the car had a few hundred and the dealer was trying to sell it as new...then i'd be a little more suspicious.
your 05 probably got pulled off the truck and parked when you bought it. my 05 had 13 miles on it when i bought it.

I buy my cars with 5 miles or less. Some people don't care. You don't know if the car had the crap beat out of it on those 30 miles.
Of course you don't know if the car had the crap beat out of it with 5 miles either. But you might wait a while to find a car with almost no miles.

30 miles sounds like two or three test drives. I think you'll be ok

It could have been driven from a storage lot or another dealer. 30 miles isn't that much but my mom's TL had one mile on it when they picked it up. Just go over the entire car to make sure it is cosmetically perfect/new.

Thanks for all the feedback. I guess I was overreacting. I just get nervous that someone test drove it hard without following normal engine and transmission break-in habits.

They may have driven it hard in those 30 miles, but then again, even if it had only 15 miles on it, somebody could have driven it like a maniac for 6-10 miles, so who knows. I wouldn't sweat it.
My '97 Maxima that I bought new had 50 miles on it and ran like a champ for over 100,000 miles. My current '04 TL had 15 miles on it and is about to flip 200,000 in the next couple of months. Wild guess says 30 miles isn't much to worry about unless they flogged the living hell out of the car, which, like I said, they could've done on a car with 5-10 miles on it, too.

I agree, $500 is reasonable. I would go on the last day of the month and start with $1000 off and start the negotiations.

I am in southern California and last September started searching like crazy for a TL Tech in Mayan Bronze (the color that the wife and I had decided on). At the time we wanted to buy there was exactly one of these in the state and it was in northern California. We worked out the deal long distance but then found out the car had about 250 miles on it. The dealer explained that it had started out at one dealer, was traded to another, and ended up at their dealership (Hansel). This almost killed the deal had it not been the only one available in California. I convinced the wife that, in the scheme of things, this small bit of mileage didn't mean anything and the car was still technically and legitimately "new".
So we flew up, picked the car up (which indeed looked absolutely new except for the miles) and drove it about 400 miles back home. So right off the bat the "original" miles did not really matter (currently have about 2800 miles on the car).

Everyday I'm rofling
I bought mine with 26 miles on it. Makes sense that it had some miles from test driving considering that there were only 2 new tsx v6's in Dallas at the time. You should be fine.

Ofcourse one would have drive hard in a test drive , everyone does and that the whole purpose of a test drive
Honestly I don't think these cars need break in periods and 30 miles is nothing to be paranoid about

Hi everyone....I am like g37guy01...I usually custom order my vehicle and my dealership knows not to take my vehicles for a test drive and NO ONE except the people that need to drive it from the assembly line to the lot (including truck drivers etc).
I agree with others, it seems very unlikely that anything can be done to hurt a new Acura with that little mileage on it. For me, its a psychological thing that I like my cars to have been driven by me and me only (except for the people needed to bring my car to me). If you really like the car, don't sweat it and pull the plug.
ONE advice...take it for a test drive yourself and make 100% sure that there is no vibration that could have been caused by a pothole damage. I made the mistake once of assuming the vibration was just the result of a poor balancing but I had a heck of a time trying to get the problem fixed to my satisfaction and it was a rim. Now mind you, this was on a non Acura vehicle but you get my drift....
