2013 TL Display Brightness

I have a 2013 TL without Navigation. The center display basically shows radio info, A/C temps setting and the clock. IN my opinion the display is weak. It is almost impossible to see the clock and temps during the day. The dealer says this is normal but that makes no sense to me. Why have a display if you can't see it? Thoughts please.

There is a button on the lower left on dash that adjusts brightness for the entire car including the MMI between tach/speedo. I hope it helps....

echofigital.....thank you for your reply. I am aware of the two buttons and have played with the brightness adjustments but the clock and temp settings are still not acceptable during the day. It is like the light of day is washing out the display. I will try the buttons again in case I have misinterpreted the settings process. Thanks again.

I'm thinking something isn't right maybe with your car or with the settings. I have no issue with the brightness on my '12 TL. It's plenty bright during the day.

I don't have this issue either...gharmon is your age accurate in your profile? I feel like an ass saying this but is it possible it could be related to bad eyesight?

To wreak......a good suggestion but my eyesight is fine. My sweet wife sees the same problem.

To a35tl......I suspect a weak display unit but more research is necessary. As a reminder, the car does not have navigation (should have gotten it even though we never take trips). More research necessary. May try another dealer for a second opinion.

I agree with everyone else, the display is very bright. I can even read the display on a sunny day when the sunroof is open. The base model display is lame but very legible & clear. There could actually be an issue with the display if you are having a real problem seeing whats on it.

All the responses are appreciated. I will do some more tests here.

Another issue is some black stain on the trunk lips and door lips. It doesn't want to come off and I don't want to try to hard (yet) and damage the finish, It;s a white car that came out of FL so the black stuff is very noticeable. Any ideas?

The black stuff is probably build up of dirt from oils when the car was undercoated. I would try "bug and tar remover" and "clay bar", you can find both of them in just about any automotive detailing department or store.

It's something else. I have tried WD-40, Super Green, finger nail polish remover, 0000 steel wheel, Magic Eraser, polishing compound, etc. I may have engage the dealer stronger. I appreciate your response.

Strange, could it be black sole rubber transferred from the last owners shoes? I've had that before and managed to remove it with my finger nail.

I doubt it. The major areas are the trunk where the seals meet the body. It is a black :something" that will not come off. Needless to say it is an interesting situation.
