2013 TL - Acura Name Plate
I'm not sure if this has been discussed previously but just purchased a 2013 TL Tech. and noticed the "Acura" nameplate formerly on the back left side of the trunk lid ("TL" nameplate is on the right) no longer exists. I have a 2009 TL and the Acura nameplate is there. Also noticed it missing in their advertisements.
Anyone know the story behind the removal. Seems unusual that they would remove their brand designation!

But seriously I think and this is my opinion, Acura wants to reduce the emblems because to be honest; it's too freakin busy back there. If you notice, the new models don't have the "ACURA" emblems either. They are following suit with other manufacturers who are also doing the same. Just show their icon/logo (whatever you wanna call it) and it should speak for itself. Merc, Audi, BMW and recently Lexus has been this for years.

The RLX also doesn't have the Acura name badge at the back of the car too.
It seems like Acura is using solely the Acura emblem to mark it's products.

They dropped it from the '13 ZDX too. Acura used to want to promote their name, esp when the Legend name was more well known than the Acura brand, so they dropped Legend name to promote ACURA. Now it seems like they don't want to flaunt ACURA so much any more. With their reputation now, many people'd rather own an MDX or TL than an 'Acura' I think.

Like you said before, most car owners know squat. If there isn't a crystal clear sign to identify the two trims, they may not even know if they have paid for the correct trim car.
