2013 6MT SH-AWD lease quote

Hello there, I would like some feedback on the lease quote I received last week on a 2013 6MT SH-AWD model:

MSRP: 44,080
selling price: 40,xxx (invoice)
conquest: $2000
dealer lease cash: $1500
monthly payment: $468
10k mi/yr
36 months
$800 due at signing

My current 2012 G37S 6MT lease is ending towards the end of this year, but I thought I would see how the TL leases with all the current incentives available. Not very good. Although there are $3500 in rebates, the 55% residual on a 36 month 10k mi/yr lease is horrible.

I could get into a base TL for about $350/mo for 12k mi/yr, but I'm still shopping around. A penny for your thoughts...

No, its not. I just did it for reference. My current lease is for 12k mi/yr but right now I'm on track for about 10k per year average.

Is the selling price in the first post before or after rebates? I know they can do better than that.

That's a low lease payment for that TL, looks like a good lease deal to me.

I think you should be able to get them down to $38k before rebates. I got my 6mt AWD in march for that price.

Man....All these heavily discounted prices is not good for resale value of the TL's no?! I don't care as I lease mine but for all you owners, does that worry you a little? I know Acura/Honda has always been known for their amazing resale but are we witnessing the beginning of a downward spiral for Acura?

Not too worried. First, I usually buy and keep my cars for 10+ years. Second, I got a great price on my TL, so as far as my outlay, its price has held up pretty well. If I had paid list, I might be less happy.

It's about as good as it's going to get for an SH lease. Acura is not all that agressive in their leasing. They are fairly conservative on their residual estimates, they simply don't lose out on their leases on the back end but as you know, leasing is not just about the residual, it's about everything.

It's not all bad, it's the last 1/4 of the model year, 55% would not be a deal breaker for me considering, just my opinion. The last part that is missing however is the money factor, which at this time of the year is likely compensating for the residual drop. What is the MF by the way?

You're getting a good deal regardless with lots of incentives, the payment is a little over 10% of MSRP, that's in the ideal range, you may have to carry a bit more of the % load than you like but could probably recoupe it later by buying out the vehicle then selling. Or if you like it enough just finance if it's in the budget. In the same 3 years, provided it's in good shape and nothing unexpected happens, sell it and you might beat your total lease payments with everything netted out. Costs a little more in the interim but you also have the added flexibility of ownership.

Thats not that bad of a deal, your buyout will be $24,244 at end of the 3 years. I would just write a check to Honda and resale the car myself.

The $468 is with the taxes I assume?

Just wondering, what state are you getting this deal in?

I can't update my original post, so I'll answer the questions below:
$468 is including tax (6% in Michigan)
Metro Detroit area
MF is 0.00062
Selling price at invoice is before applied incentives
$2000 conquest is cap cost reduction, so purchase price is $38,xxx
$1500 dealer cash is applied as down payment
The ~$800 is 1st months payment, doc fees, TTL, etc...

From what I'm hearing this is a good deal. However, I want a great deal. It may sound greedy, but I've been spoiled with leasing my past few Infiniti G37 sedans for around $350/mo with just over $1000 due at signing. I'm just trying to get the most for my money.

There may be a little more wiggle room and it never hurts to ask. The worst thing that happens is the dealer says no.

But IMO it’s really not a bad deal with only $800 due at inception and with taxes (approx $1,000) rolled in.. So figure you’re around $440/month before taxes. Not bad for a 6MT SH-AWD.

Good Luck

OP, I have invoice at $41,645, have seen it $300 lowers as well, just want you to have the proper info. If they are telling you $40,xxx, that's not accurate and they are actually using the $41,645.

As for the MF, it's good, probably not worth financing even if one wanted to (unless you need to for mileage and flexibility), with $1500 lease cash and a rate of about 1.5%, it might be a slightly better deal then a 60 month finance right now. I was not even aware the lease program was available for anything other than the base, so you're ahead of the game in that respect.

There is some room to come down but I do not think you will be seeing $350 a month, for better or worse Acura is not in the game of giving cars away via lease. I would simply suggest to them that you pay about $350 for a comparable vehicle as it is and as good as the deal may be, if they could meet you somewhere in the middle you will sign. That would really be the great deal you're looking for.

Honestly, if they met me in the middle of $350~$460, I would probably bite. However, its just hard for me to justify a $100/mo premium for the SH-AWD model over a base.

I'll keep shopping around.

Arent we comparing a base VS AWD 6speed with Tech? Its comparing apples to oranges its a totally different car.

If not then $350 for a Tech 2wd is a amazing deal for a lease.

That really comes down to whether or not you value those things to make it worth it but from a pure financial standpoint, $350 vs $460 for a 36 month lease means you're paying almost $4000 more and that a little more than half of the premium or mark up from the base to the SH tech, which is not inappropriate, also keep in mind it is the very rare and just about one of it's kind, 6MT version.

If you could get a FWD tech for $350 then you would be paying the entire premium or mark up for the SH tech from there and that would truly not be worth it from a strict financial standpoint.

Thanks for all the feedback you guys. I still have some time to figure out my situation so I'll keep the TL on my radar.

Depends where you live, values and residuals are different by demographic, another big factor is how much the people at the dealership are screwing you. There is such things as yield spread (points in the back) which raises your payment. For instance, they run credit and tell you you qualified for a 9% (just making numbers up here) when you really qualified for a 5%, you complain thats it to high they say hold on let me "call in a favor with the guy i know at the bank" or "let me talk to my manager" which is all bullshit. . . They "call" or "ask manager" and come back and say good news i got them to drop it down to a 7% (remember you have already qualified for a 5%) so now you are happy that they hooked you up, you sign, and the finance guy gets a check back from the bank for between $500-1000 per each % he raised your rate and its all legal and happens ALL THE TIME in both auto finance and mortgages. . .

I have a 2013 TL every option besides SH-AWD, lip kit, navi, backup cam, etc etc etc. 3 year lease, 12k/year miles, $0 down $447/month with a 609 score in South Florida. . .

Also good to know is that generally down payments are just a gimmick to get some cash from you because it makes dealer more comfortable that you wont do a first payment default which looses their commission from lender... Do simple math when you are there, for every $1000 you put down it lowers your payment approx $20/month, so if they want 3k down, which lowers your payment $60/month over how ever many years, take the $60/month and multiply it by the term of the loan/lease and if it doesnt equal 3k then you are putting more down then you are saving and it actually saves you money by having the larger payment and putting nothing down.

Man, these American prices make me cringe. I've got a 2012 SH-AWD 6mt on a 48 month lease for $700 taxes in. And i GOT a really good deal as far as Canadian prices go.
