Talking 2012 TL Side Mirror Mod... #Repost...

Hi all!

U would think for a car (TL) to cost $40-$44K that's equip with push start, nav, paddle shifters, memory seat, one touch windows, Exc. That it would also come with power folding side mirrors!! We all know it don't!  Smh.. Why is that??? 😳😳😳 Really!!

Anyway, I'm interested in getting a set. Preferable OEM even if I have to get them from Japan. Dose anyone know/heard anything about this or know of a shop that can customized them? I'm sure there are others out there that are interested.

the TL isnt made in Japan.
I dont think there are OEM options.

Since, I dont have a 4th gen, I'm not sure of mirror size.
can a motor even fit inside the housing!?

That would be a cool mod. Considering our cars seem pretty wide when parked on the new sub divisions mall parking lots.

For Acura, you'll need to fish out $9K more for the RL-class sedan in order to get the folding side mirrors feature.

I was looking for the "button" shortly after taking delivery and scratching my head where they'd hide it. Later, I found out it wasn't even there. This is the first vehicle I have since 2007 that doesn't have the power folding mirrors (exclude the 997). I am not too worried anyways, but it would be nice to have it.

as for modification possibility, I am pretty sure there is nothing money can't do when it comes to cars, but the cost alone might just not worth the hassle. I would save the money or spend it on something else.

Meh, just park at the back of the lot and you won't have to worry about it

I know it's a PITA, but you could always manually fold them if/when you park in suspect places.

Just crap that adds weight, complexity, cost and does not enhance the actual driving experience. Sure if you wanted to add them I have no problem with making them available aftermarket but glad they are not part of the car.

So that when you park your vehicle, other people don't run into your mirrors due to their inability to park - and drive overall.

I must be missing something too. Never thought to myself, "if only my outside mirrors folded at the push of a button." Maybe more important if you live in a congested urban area?

Absolutely. We recently moved from AZ to So Cal... I am SO thankful for those damn mirrors that fold in! Parking here is like trying to stuff your car into a shoe box. It's insane.

honestly.. having your mirrors fold serves no purpose.. it barely does anything.. you probably save like 3 or max 4 inches from one mirror.

Don't forget about those of us with a one car garage. I only have 2-3 inches of clearance on each side when the mirrors are folded out. Sure, you can manually fold them in... but I live in Chicago. Try doing that when it's 10 degrees and snowing.

The other problem is that if you have to park in spots close enough to benefit from folding mirrors, you would really have to worry about door dings.
