Hi. My 2012 TL gave me a message to change the battery in my key fob remote. Before I could change the battery it stopped working. I then had to use the key in the push start ignition slot. When I stopped the car after using the slot I removed the key but got a message telling me to remove the key from the slot - no key was in the slot. I have changed the battery in the remote but it won't work and I continue to get the message re: moving the key from the slot every time I open the car door. I also can only lock the car door with the key. Can anyone help? I have read the manual and it doesn't discuss this issue. Thanks.

 

It may sound stupid but it happened to me last time I changed my FOB battery so I suppose it could happen to anyone.

Make sure there is no sticker tab under the battery... When I changed my battery, I popped the new battery in and nothing was working. I proceeded to reopen the FOB and noticed the CR-2032 battery had a piece of paper attached to it so that the contact could not be made. I suppose this is how they are packaged at the battery factory.

I removed the paper, put the battery back in and everything was fine...

 

disconnect the battery and let the car recalibrate itself..

sounds like when you inserted the key in the "ignition slot" the tab inside is stuck and the car thinks the key is still in even though you removed the key.
just take a pair of pliers and try to pull back the tab.
but be careful not to damage anything
