2012 shawd advanced $30k or wait til after TLX Launch?

28k miles
Advanced
Supposedly in excelent condition unfortunately its 3hrs away so i have not seen it in person

They say its at what they have in it. Down from $34k original price.

Should i pull the trigger or wait until the TLX is released.

My train of thought is after its released more cars will be traded in. Therefore, more inventory will be available and possibly at possibly at lower prices.

That's a good deal!
I paid just under 26k for my 2012 SH-AWD Tech with 34k miles almost 2 weeks ago. Had to drive over an hour to see it.

Eh.. it's alright. I want to say they can go lower but it really depends on how much they bought the car back for if it's a trade. I paid 31k for my 12' AWD/ADV w/ almost 20k miles, from a non Acura dealer in 2013; I negotiate like a terrorist, my way or deal goes boom.

Its at a honda dealership ... I was thinking of paying at most 28k ...

I still need to see if it is in as "excelent" condition as the sales rep says its in ... I dont know what to use as a negotiating point in favor ..

Btw one of the managers drives or drove it

HeartTLs - great looking car .. Only reason i considered going with 09-11 was price and how good you and others have made look

LNJ- did you buy it at an Acura dealership?

Nope. It was a used car dealer out in the country where imports don't sell! He showed me what they gave the guy who traded it in.
The Acura dealerships wanted a good 2-3k more. Mind you I'm in Canada and we pay a little more than you guys for everything.

Damn I can't edit. Anyway then I took it over to the Acura dealerships that it was actually purchased from and they had all the service records and knew the car very well.

Calipers and rotors look clean. Are you referring to the rear driver side seat?
If so it looks like there was a car seat attached to it. Which means it was probably gently driven if they had a young child.

$30k is too much. Not because its not worth it but because someone willing to spend $30k on a car, may as well buy a new one around that price and not having to deal with issues. So it will sit there in that lot for a long time. Offer $25 max and be firm about it. Don't buy extended warranty and all that crap, not even pay any consulting fees or any other fees. See what they say.

LNJ - they do look clean .. but yes I was referring to the car seat .. good point about how it may have been been driven .. but carfax says interior rim was checked so it may have some rattling ..

Tonyware- I have considered going with an accord v6 .. but I really want a TL .. I offered 26.5k he came back saying best he can do is 29.7k edmunds.com says $31k if its clean

What is bad about the calipers and rotor look rusty and dirty?
I am looking to buy an used TL too and the car that I am interesting in has dirty rotors and calipers.

Thanks in advance.

Nothing at all. In the Canadian climate it is unavoidable because of the salt on the roads. Just an eyesore when they look rusty that's all.

The stock rotors on the TL always show rust until driven. It comes and goes. If you can get it for under $30k that's not bad but I would check it over twice! Any issue is worth a low ball offer. Not one to buy a first year model anymore after my TSX. Couple years go by and they fix all the bugs and upgrade some parts which is then worth it. It's cool to be the first one with a brand new car until the updated version drops and you realize it has better features and more power. Nothing wrong with the 4g. I bought a brand new 2014 and I love it. It's almost paid off already and purchased in the December so no buyers remorse or sticker shock. I am finally putting the car together on Monday so it'll be ready for show this year. Have a great service plug so they won't void my warranty.

Good luck with your car shopping.

The dealer I service our cars at is hounding me to trade in the 6MT, sounds like they really need more vehicles for the used car lot.

Not sure how much more depreciation you'll see in low mileage models since the 4G did not sell in heavy numbers, so the tidal wave of 4G trade-ins may not materialize.

Thank you! I love how a clean black car looks but they're heart breakers. Any paint damage is easily seen and you'll spend 3hrs detailing it, only to find it dirty minutes later. I don't recommend it for anyone who's not willing to put in the time to keep it clean.

1st maybe or may not be true. Anytime the dealer is making a sale he/she is making a profit. So what better way to make a profit than by selling you a new car/lease and then your rare trade in. I only doubt it's a load of bull that they're desperate for used inventory because they send those flyers/emails periodically to everyone on their contact list. That's a great point about the potential lack of used 4Gs once the 5G debuts.

CarbonTSEX- thanks, I agree on not buying the first year model ... What i meant is wait for the trade-ins that would be for sale from people buying the TLX and hope the used models depreciated even more because of the new model year

Fibonacci- great point i didnt know they didnt sell in big numbers ...

***I just noticed something on the carfax ***

the car was titled on 1/29/2014
put for sale on 2/17/2014 at a Chevy dealer
then at Honda Fishers on 3/3/2014 driven for month
then on 4/15/2014 pre delivery inpection completed .. So its been for sale since Feb.

Could that mean there is something wrong with the car?

You can buy a brand new 2014 Advanced for 39k. They're offering 0.9% financing and you won't get near that with financing a used car. Youll also get a new warranty. If you can spring a few extra bucks a month... go new.

You can get 1.24% on used car loan from DCU bank. Google it. I am going to used them when I buy my next car soon. It requires you have a good credit score though ( > 650 FICO score if I remember correctly).

big10purdue- you asked me to talk to Malik at muller acura .. I did but buying a new one means spending double what i originally planned on spending... I am willing to spend $25-27k if the car is worth it..

I just bought a house and havent even made my first payment ... I dont want to over extend myself ..

Ptvo- thanks for the info .. I will definitely chek it out

You are welcome. I am in the exact situation like you are. I need a second car soon so I have been thinking buying an used Tl or a new accord coupe. May I ask what you don't like about the new accord? To me, the TL interior screams luxury and I love it, but it lacks the cool tech from the accord

I wish they release the TLX soon so we can have a hell of deal for the used TL

Ptvo-i have test driven the accord 4dr v6 and 4 cylinder.. And yes i like the tech of the accord... As far as looks only with the aero kit .. The interior and trunk space.. And the v6 is pretty strong ...

What i didnt like is that for the v6 the price rocktes to almost $30k and up
The 4 cyl comes with cvt
Doent come with awd i live in chicago so would like awd for the snow plus its more fun to drive
The seat didnt "hug" me quite as well as the TL
And a little superficial of me to say but i want an Acura emblem

Well i do have to say i really have been wanting a TL ever since i saw the wdp 3g ... the 3g is beautiful ... But the 4g is good looking and strong

Heart- didn't like the stock advance wheels?

hondata- the V6 touring is still a great buy if you don't have to have the shawd. My parents have a fwd tech, and the difference of the shawd version is huge for me, stiffer ride, tighter seats, 3.7 noises, and of the course the ability to use throttle while turning. I almost bought a used blue advance shawd and was looking at white as well, but the umber in person + wife's approval led to me buying my first black car (only way to get umber in 2014).

I did and still do. I had them on my 4/4.5G for nearly 3 years, it was time for a change. I also wanted the diamonds because they're extremely rare and weight 25lbs each and the adv/HPT wheels are 28lbs each.

I got them for 1500 and sold my old 19's immediately after for 1400, so the cost was very small. The only other expenses was shipping, mounting and balancing.

except heart, I have a tech with the "you see these everywhere" 18" which i don't expect to get too much on.

I may end up getting the 19s with summers and keeping the 18s for other seasons. For new 19" diamond cuts, the best I'm seeing is about 1700 before shipping from a few acura dealers. Is this the best I can do new?
