2012+ FWD 6AT Ignoring Paddle Downshifts

Has anyone else ever noticed the car ignoring your paddle shifts in S mode? It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it appears to be only when braking around a curve (which makes sense). But then there are other times when it doesn't do it. I figured maybe the car checks a steering wheel position sensor and whether or not you're braking to consider letting you downshift. It can be a bit jarring sometimes, as I'm expecting the downshift but nothing happens, so I have to be careful not to press it again too many times or else I would double downshift.

Usually I just brake a little harder and downshift before the turn, which is probably the right way, but it was just something I noticed over the course of driving my car. I have no problem with adapting to this feature, because I'm sure it was designed for a reason.

After a bit of research it's obvious for the reasoning behind it; sorry for wasting thread space!

About 90% of the time it's simply taking a right turn at low speeds in 3rd, but it'll force you to wait until you're straight again before going to 2nd.

And the idiot of the year award goes to...
