2012 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT

A few weeks ago a posted a forum question on the value of the wait and price of a 6MT over the 6AT. Just about everyone said to go for the 6MT. I am proud to announce I have found and purchased one this weekend. The car was traded in at an Audi Dealership for an A7. (Their loss, my gain). The car only had 9k miles on it and was over $10k off MSRP. I had to travel to FL to get the car (I am located in TX). I am very excited for my purchase and thanks to everyone again for their advice.

Congrats and welcome.

Going from a TL to an A6/A7 is considered by most as an upgrade.

Some members here have already gone this route, because, honestly, there is nothing in the Acura lineup available for those TL owners who have the money and want to move upscale to a more luxury and expensive sedan.

The RL is a joke, so don't even mention it.

Pimpin, I live in El Paso. Edward, I have to agree that if you want to spend the money the Audi is a more upscale car, and I did look at the A6, but I went to for the TL for a few reasons which is why I think it is an overall better car. The TL comes in an manual transmission while the A6/A7 do not. The maintenance on the Acura is much cheaper, and the TL is about 90% of the car the Audi for $10-20k cheaper. I also agree with you that the RL is a disappointment. Hopefully the new 2014 RL will be a massive improvement.

Omaralt, Hey, I think it is your old car. I just picked it up yesterday morning today from Reeves Import in FL. They were incorrect in the reported mileage. Anyway, I guess I have you to thank. The dealer said the previous owner traded it in for an Audi not a BMW. Why did you trade it in? Was there anything particular you didn't like about the car? Do you remember what your PIN was? I can't set my home address without it.

I traded it in because I wanted something more luxurious an not as stiff. Loved it and was a lot of fun. Nothing wrong with it. I hit the side mirror on the garage and had it replaced at Acura (look in my post history)

I reset everything so the pin shouldn't be there. I'm not comfortable giving out the pin as its the same pin for everything. The Acura dealer can help you if you still can't get it. Good luck. I loved the car. Just fell in love with the 535i

With the m sport package you get dynamic damper control (ie adjustable suspension). In comfort + mode it floats like a Buick. In sport + it feels like a BMW. I love the split personality. And honestly the fit/finish and materials are a step above the tl. But honestly the biggest factor are the comfort seats. The most comfortable seats in a car ever. They're amazing. And i love how quiet it is. Had many rattles in the tl

Yeh, these factory adjustable suspensions are amazing.

Some like it soft. Others like it hard. Everyone's happy !

When I bought my TL in 2010, there was a manual with the aspec package on the lot for a couple grand more (for the aspec package). Seing how I love the manual but do too much stop and go driving, I did not dare test it for fear of falling in love with it and buying it. I can only imagine how powerful it would be.

Went with the 8 spd auto. This car is far too luxurious to be driven manual IMO

Congrats! I did something similar, buying a used 2010 6MT in MN and driving it to LA (state not city). Had 18,900 miles - now 20,400 two weeks later, but what a nice drive home. It was a mfr buyback from the original owner ("lemon"), due to a dash rattle that is no more, so it was a good deal (from the second owner).

omaralt, I looked at your previous post history and saw the tint job you did. The dealership removed it before they sold the car to me. I put 35/20 on the vehicle. What did you have on it?

Not sure about FL, but that wouldn't pass inspection here in SA,TX so maybe that's why?
