2010 vs 2012 6MT Towing Capacity
Hi,
I'm looking to tow a little tent trailer, or boler, about a 100 miles about 2-3 times a year.
I noticed my 2010 6MT is rated for 1000lbs, and the 2012 6MT is rated for 2000 lbs.
Might anyone know if there is a difference in the cars? Any known issues with towing about 1500lbs just a few hundred miles a year in my 2010 6MT?
Thank you

The drivetrain on both are identical. Both the motor and transmission are the same. The automatic transmission was updated with the 2012-2014 but the manual stayed the same. I wonder if they updated it in 2012 with 2010 being more a more conservative estimate.
I'd probably go for it and just monitor things to make sure your engine temp isn't getting too high. Since you're a manual, you don't have to worry about the transmission overheating. But there's the safety issues like braking capacity, strain on the chassis and suspension. But again, all of those parts are identical between the pre and post mid-model refresh so I can't imagine why they'd be able to double the capacity with the mid-model refresh. I'd certainly be conservative with speed and braking as well.
