2010 Acura TL Tech Package

Hello Friends,
I am thinking to buy CPO 2010 Acura TL with Tech Package.
After talking to few dealers I managed to get the price to $31,250 out of the door.
This car has 12500 miles. I was wondering if you can share your thoughts on this deal. Could there be any issues with the car that I should check before signing over the dotted line. Does this year model has any mechanical troubles?

I would appreciate your help

PS: never mind about my screen name, I own BMW R 1200c motorcycle.

Welcome to the forum. I have a 2010 Tech myself. I have had no problems in 6300 miles except for an occasional rattle or two (not enough to pursue fixing). I absolutely love the car. In my area the price you were quoted is about the average asking price for a low-mileage 2010. However, I would check your particular zip code via KBB or some other site because that will also affect the price. If there are similar cars at different dealers that you would be happy with, I would get them working against each other to get the price down even further if you can. Let us know how you do.

PS -Great bike you've got there. I have two Kawi's - 1600 Classic and 1500 Nomad (I keep them at seperate residences).

Welcome. That sounds like a good price for the car. We have owned our 2010 TL Tech PKGE from Nov.2009 and now has 18,000 miles without any issues what so ever. If you can, have it inspected by your local mechanic if you have that option just for piece of mind.

I found another dealer in the area, but the other dealer absolutely refused to go any below than $32,275 + tax and other charges. I told him that I am getting $31,200 out of the door from this first guy and he said may be there is a mechanical trouble with the car etc. thats when I started to worry and thought to seek some help from this forum.
I mean if there is a problem I wouldn't notice in the test drive because I am not much of an expert in cars myself. I don't have the option of taking any mechanic with me for test drive either. That bad mouth of second dealer threw me off the balance

Sounds like a good price to me, but to be safe I would advise taking to an Acura dealership to see if they'll give it a look over. Be a great way to start a relationship for any possible warranty work down the road. That being said, I've had my 2010 SH-AWD Tech for a year and it now has 29k on it, running to perfection.

is that an acura dealer who quoted you 31200 OTD , then its a very good deal. Week back i bought a 2010 CPO Acura TL ( base) with 21K miles for 28500 + tax ( although here people say i may have paid little extra)

CPO from an Acura Dealership, then the price is pretty fair.

If the car had mechanical problems, then they wouldn't be able to certify it (ideally). If certified, then head here to see all that the car's checked for before it can be sold as a CPO. The other dealer is more than likely playing the scare game to get you to buy from them.

26k on my 2010 TL Tech SH-AWD, only minor issues: center caps were discolored after a couple months, dealer replaced. only other issue is rattles in the rear deck, there is a tsb on it. love the car except for the sluggish 5 speed trans, its fine unless I drive my wife's 6 spd mdx.

couple things you might want to consider. take it for another test drive, if you hear any rattles (sun roof, rear deck) ask the dealer to fix them before taking delivery. i wouldn't worry too much about there being problems, it is a honda after-all. if its still a concern you can buy an extended warranty from acura up to 8 years and 120,000 miles, shop around because you can get one a lot cheaper from some of the bigger dealers ie large boston acura dealer has great pricing.

enjoy it! i was new to the brand when I purchased my 2010 and 7 mos later I bought a 2011 MDX because I love the Acura's value, quality and dealer treatment (no more loaner car BS). I also like that I can buy Acura parts on the cheap from big dealers and bring them to my dealer to install or install myself (ie running boards, front grille, change rear dif fluid) etc and save a ton of dough.

I found the KBB report. I put in google docs and sharing here
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B94...JjN2NmNjQ4NDg5

thats how I became little skeptical about myself getting a price of $29,000 + tax or $ 31,210 OTD

what does the carfax look like? has it been hit? don't always trust the CF for accidents as it can take up to 2 mos to post in some states. look the car over to make its never been hit.

also that KBB looks very high considering I paid 37k for a 2010 Tech SH AWD brand new no miles and I did well on my trade.

not for nothing but you can get an AWD with Tech with a little more miles for about that price.

Yes, the KBB value is the "suggested" retail price. Look up the trade in value for the exact same car on KBB. That should give you a good gauge of what the dealer paid. Adjust some for the CPO warranty and then see if the price is good or not...

Yes I checked the price on edmunds.com
Trade-In Private Party Dealer Retail
$27,854 $29,741 $31,164

I am sure the dealer must have got for less than 27k, so this should not come as a surprise to me if he is willing to sell the car back for 29k.

with less than 20k miles, dealers don't have to do lot of repair work. That was my rationale for tough negotiations.
