2010 6MT self rev matching on hills??

So I hope I'm not going nuts... but has anybody else with a manual 4G TL noticed that it automatically rev matches for you if you downshift while going up a hill?

I've had it happen on many occasions, and kept over revving before I realized it was happening, but kept forgetting to ask if anybody else noticed it too. I doubt mine is magic.

2012 Acura TL | MotorWeek

Manual-mode shifts are quick, and as a bonus for race car driver wannabes, the transmission will blip the throttle on downshifts to match revs for a clean gear change. The TL chassis continues to delight with sharp turn-ins and with the Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive, the nimbleness, and grip of a smaller sports car.

Usually, as expected, push in the clutch and downshift and I have to rev match to a higher RPM myself, when on flat ground. If I'm going uphill, and downshift to get some more torque, that's the only time it'll blip the throttle for me.

I don't see anything in the manual or anywhere online about this feature working uphill on a non-automatic TL.

then i am not aware of an actual rev match going on.. i know the auto has the feature where it does not let the car roll back on a slight hill but that is about it

I need to try this tonight, but I don't recall any auto rev matching when downshifting uphill.

ok i drove my car up the hill heading home twice today and tried downshifting 3 times per trip, no rev matching whatsoever, and the only time the needle moved up by 500 rpm was because my right foot stayed on the gas pedal a bit too long.

Sorry OP i couldn't be more helpful here...

Actually no, that helped... Maybe I am going nuts, because that's a definite possibility lol. I've only downshifted 1 gear at a time, which is a 500 rpm increase anyway... Next time I try it, I'll pay close attention to the throttle.

Its called rev-hang (happens on all surfaces: level, uphill or downhill), it sucks when trying to upshift at/near redline. Honda implemented this to get rid of any unburnt fuel in the cylinders. A tune with Hondata (if Flashpro ever comes out) can reduce/eliminate it.

Well I'll be damned... I had no idea this was a thing. I've always noticed it with the TL, but figured I just hadn't taken my foot off the gas pedal fast enough...

So I'm still partially nuts, but it's an actual thing. Good enough for me lol.

to be quite honest, I never noticed it, but I sometimes double clutch just for smoothness sake anyway.
