2010 6MT Opinions

At the dealer, looking at a 4g,

I need opinions quick on this car, is the price reasonable or is too high?

They will not budge from 26700

Thanks guys

Try to make them deal $26K-27K OTD, then you should be good.

When I bought my TL, I just called them "This is my offer, call me when you guys ready and I will pick it up same day"

Also, you definitely need a mechanic with you to check the car, you don't know how previous owner/s drove TL, especially this is manual tranny

Thanks for the quick response, I think I might pass on the car then, they are telling me the car is very very rare, and will not budge on the 26,700 before ttl

Any more input from anyone else is greatly appreciated

I'm not surprised they said it! Just leave your number and wait when they call you, might take a few days or a week. Remember, this is manual tranny, very very rare, not many people will be interested. You might be able to take it, just patience if you really interested

My car was on the lot for a month, finally they said OK with my $5K below offer, I was already pre-approved and they saw me as a potential buyer, not just talker

Is the car CPO? If so, having a mechanic take a look at it might be a moot point. Everything would be covered under warranty for 12/12 if so, right?

How does that price compare to KBB, NADA, etc.? Those sources will give you a pretty good idea of market value. If you really want a 6MT, you may need to be flexible in terms of timing and/or price, since they are not exactly a dime a dozen on the market. Good luck.

Is there a reason to have a mechanic look at it when you're already buying it from an Acura dealership and it's still under warranty (even if not CPO)? I mean it wouldn't make sense for them to sell you a bad car cause they'd just have to repair it, right?

Yes... Car has almost 60K miles, plus manual tranny. Like I mentioned above, you don't know who was a previous driver.

Also, CPO doesn't mean anything, I had learned a lesson buying CPO car from Acura dealer with hood, fender and bumper re-painted with good (not great) work done.

Car is not CPO, I'm not exactly sure why, but I asked them and they told me that the brakes are good enough not to replace, so they do not want to spend money to make the car CPO.

As for the rarity of the car. I do understand the car is rare, and I am willing to pay a little more for the 6spd, however they had an automatic that had the full aero kit and they were willing to sell that to me for 23700 before ttl and this car had 10k less miles than the 6spd.

I just feel like a 3000 dollar premium is a little bit too much for a car that was the same price brand new.

From their ad it seems they just got it on the lot. Not in a hurry to move..yet. Like others have said, give them your number and wait if you are not in a hurry.

You are right... the manual might be rare, but people who want (and can afford) a manual luxury car are even rarer. I also think you should wait a while, they'll probably come down on the price. If it sells, another one will be along before too long.

I just bought a 2010 6MT AWD Tech last week in CT. 31k miles. $27900.

Called up on Thursday to schedule a test drive on Friday. Told there was two people coming in that night to test drive and three people coming in on Friday to test drive. This was the closest 6MT TL within 500 miles of me that was for sale. Asked if I wanted to put a deposit on it over the phone to hold it. Thought about it, then did. An hour later I get a call saying that another salesman had put a sold sticker on the car and wasn't aware of my deposit. I was then asked to run a credit app. Okay sure. I was approved. They sent the customer home who was sitting there. I came down the next day and picked up the car. Luckily they were able to call in a lease from another TL owner that had a 6MT and sell that to the unhappy customer.

So with that being said, I think the price is fair considering the mileage. And yes, they are hot in some areas. At least in New England they are. If you do a cars.com search in your area and there are a few for sale then don't sweat it. In my case there wasn't hence the reason why everyone jumped on it.

Look at the last photo of the dealer's listing site. Front tire pressures of 31 & 32 psi. How can the dash say the tire pressure is OK? My car's tire pressure sticker on the door sill says 19" tires are suppose to be 37 psi in front.

Mine was CPO with 32psi on all 4 tires but that was during August in NorCali

I have a 2012 6mt and my recommended tire pressure is 32 psi for the 18" wheels.

I bought my 2010 6MT in October for $25,500 with 18,800 miles, but it had a lemon title (rattle issues that were also noted on the carfax). I figured it would develop rattles eventually anyway, and there were no rattles when I test drove it. Everything else was like new, and warranty is still in effect.

Have you still not noticed the rattle? If so have you taken it to a dealer to attempt to remedy it?

I would before the 5G comes out. You'll probably make some good money on the deal.

That's interesting...I thought the AWD is what made it 37/32 as opposed to wheel diameter. The sticker inside your door says 32 all around?

The shop that I bought my wheels from were surprised this car required more psi in the front...he said most AWD systems have more psi in the rear. I can only assume it's because our cars are FWD dominant.
