2009 TL Tech RPM Issue
I have noticed that just before coming to a complete stop with my 2009 TL Tech, the car jumps 200 RPMs before idling at around 700 RPM. It does this often, but not all of the time. Does this seem like normal behavior? If not, what could be causing the car to do this? My car is 2.5 months old and has 1800 miles on it.
Thanks!

My guessis that the car will often stay in gear while slowing down to assist in braking. The RPMs are tied to wheel speed until the car sees the RPM go past idle speed (about 900). It will shoot past 900 a bit before going into neutral. When that happens, it senses the RPMs are a bit low and gives it a little gas to achieve normal idle, thus the 'blip' in RPM.

My impression is that it's a downshift to 1st gear. If you're light on the brakes coming to a stop, you can feel the extra engine braking when the shift happens and the rpms blip.
