2009 TL to 2012 TL...Do it?
Went to my local acura dealership...
I can trade-in my 2009 TL FWD(Base) to an 2012 TL FWD(Tech).
The quote I was given for this deal to happen was $15,000 all in @ 0.25% Finance for 25 months and 25 months free maintenance.
I also asked for free tints and free 19 inch tires for my current wheels I have. They haven`t decided on that yet.
Does this sound like a good deal or can I do better

Going from base to base tech...i guess its kind of a upgrade...I really don`t like the feel of the AWD...
Anyways is the price ok...this is all in CDN $

6G TLX-S
It is well justify the trade even with the 2012 FWD TL, given the new smooth shifting 6AT as well as the better looking front-end on every 2012 TL.

my question is why? your going to pay $15K for pretty much the same car with a few goodies. me personally i can never buy two of the same car; why not experience something new? even better keep your TL for another year or two and get the new 5G TL in 2014... paying $15K for navi, better sound system, and a 6spd auto is a bit much IMO; but it's your money

My original goal is to get the 5G...but I'm getting $30K for my 2009 Base TL that I have had for 30 months. I paid 39,990 for it.
I won't get anywhere near 30K for a 5-6 yr Base TL in the future.
2012 MSRP(Canadian Prices)
FWD(TECH) 39,990
AWD(TECH) 43,990
Shit I don't know...this is confusing.

take this as a lesson learned; get what you want so you dont have regrets. had you gotten the tech package initially you would have spent an extra $4K and not be thinking of spending $15K now. so if what you really want is the 5G TL, then wait for it and get it optioned the way you want it to be optioned

its very tempting to get 30k for your base 09 tl, that sounds like a great price.
but it does make sense to save for what you really want, 5g tl. maybe then you will have enough to get the 5g loaded - tech/awd.
in the mean time you have a nice 2009 tl to drive, while saving and dreaming of the 5g tl.

trust! get a awd! i kinda regret not getting mines at the time of purchase... i just didnt find a reason to get a awd in socal.. but if your in cananda, you should get it..
plus as i said before, dropping 15k on a newer model with the same features is not the smart idea, essentially when all you get is some headlights, bumper, and some other little stuff. awd is worth the 15k upgrade

I think its a good deal for...30K for my used almost 3 yr old TL with noticable hail damage...when someone can buy a new 2012 for 39,490...
say when the 5G comes...will I get 30K my car....HELL NO
Probably 15-20K by than
So lets assume:
2014 TL TECH
45K - 15K(trade-in) = 30K for 5G upgrade???

Fucken EH! Welcome to the North
I'm in Toronto...outside of NY and LA...no other city can compare to Toronto
Like I said...
They want...I could probably make them go lower
15K plus my 2009 TL...all taxes and fees are included in the 15K already.
I go from 2009 TL base to 2012 TL TECH

lol come on man; i know you really want to get the 12 TL but at least be realistic. the majority of the depreciation in a car occurs in the first 2-3 yrs. so your car has taken the brunt of the depreciation. now do you seriously think that your car will take a 50% depreciation hit in the next 1.5 yrs?? ha your kidding your self. if you can get 30K for your car now i would anticipate you being able to get ~23-25K for it in 2 yrs.
I don't like you...LOL
You sound like my wife...its the same car...with a tv screen in it...
Maybe you're right...Fuck

AWD is a different car completely.

the tech package is worth the extra $, imho. els sound system, rear lip spoiler, nav, keyless push start, perforated upgraded leather seats, backup camera, im probably forgetting other options you will get with the tech package.
if you get a loaded tl, you wont have any regrets.

Guys,
I don't like the feel of AWD...I do mainly city driving...and I don't drive the TL in bad winter weather...I have an SUV for that...
Me and the wife test drove the FWD and AWD...we both agree FWD was a lot smoother

honestly, if you feel like you need to do it, then just do it, as long as you can afford it.
but as you can see many of us dont see the need to drop 15k on the same model except with a few goodies. I.E 6 speed auto trans, headlights, F/R bumper, tail lights and possibly a different color.

Thanks...
But I look at this way...If I can get it down to $12.5K
12,500/30 = $416.66 cost per month to basically lease my current TL.
I get the damn car I should have orginally gotten with TECH.
Plus I plan of keeping the car for 10 yrs...

15k down to get a couple year newer car sounds pretty steep to me....
is your current TL all thrashed with tons of miles??? if your car is still in great shape and runs good... imagine what you coudl do with that 15k...
i mean.. add some nicer wheels, coilovers, intake, the oem kit... you'd spend $5000ish and your car woudl look better than a new 2012... you coudl also buy an extended warranty.. and still now spend half what you're looking to spend on the nweer one.
with cars.. the reality is.. the longer you keep a car the better it is financially in the long run.. your car that you now have.. youa re not far enough into the ownership curve to have really made it a good deal..as soon as you sell it .. and basically walk away from it for what it's worth.. you buy a new one.. you eat more sales tax... and you eat more depreciation..
you are basically flushing money down the toilet...

Appreciate all the advice...seems like everyone on this thread is saying NO NO NO!
I'm leaning towards NO TOO now...
Like I said I'm planning of keeping this car for a long time at least 10 yrs...so if I can get the highest value for my current car, which is now...shouldn't I do it...
What bothers me about my current car:
1. Non-Tech
2. Hail damage...I have gotten a couple of quotes...$3-7K(Paintless Dent Removal)...WOW really!
3. Color CBP...So hard to keep clean...scratches are all over the car
How do I post pics of my car??? Couple and paste???

just do it, your car has hail damage and you already want to change color..
copy the picture, not the link and past it on to whatever you want to post.
