2009 Acura TL SH-AWD Test Drive

Found this review. And the 0-60 is 5.5 sec.

I don't know......5.5sec is a little suspicious.....no mention how they tested it, when or where. High 5's maybe (according to Wavehogger's #'s) but 5.5 is too good to be true.

Added to the Reviews Thread.

5.5 Sec is what Honda Tuning and/or TOV claimed as well:

.... the TL destroys its competition with its impressive 0-60 sprint of only 5.5 seconds. ....

I agree 100%

This review is by far the best review i have seen yet that was very descriptive about the 4G.

I also agree with the reviewer in his last sentence about the 4G being greatly improved over the 3G and now more competitive with other cars in its class/category such as the A4, 3-series, IS, C-class etc.

The 5.5s 0-60 time is again very humorous as you can easily tell the reviewer drove the car for seven days probably like a test drive as their was once again no skid pad tests, 1/4 mile, 100-0 braking etc etc etc. I would sure like to see where he got those numbers along with that Honda Tuning magazine as there is yet to be a credible Automotive Publication that does testing (not just reviews) that gets a Sub 6s 0-60 time.

2nd time I've seen that vid posted - ^^^

I still can't figure out what it proves. There is no timing to susbstantiate the 5.54 seconds. It's just some guy flooring his the accelerator.

Just read the article and they have revised the 0-60 to 6.5 sec.

Hit pause when the speedo hits 60 & the timer says 7 sec.

There is at least a sec delay before he starts, and a delay when you press pause, that's less accurate then the test equipment.

Youtube video timers are not to be used as testing equipment.

I've tried about 20 times, but I just can't get it to stop right at 60 mph.

There's Red Text there. Honest.

Hmmmm, wish I'd read these posts first.

lol, I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or what, but that video was posted by Wavehogger on this forum. And he made this great, long post describing how he conducted the acceleration tests. He did several runs and recorded about 5 videos. He showed how (again with a video) brake torquing will force the transmission to start in 2nd gear (even when you put it in 1st), etc. 5.54s is his fastest run and he too believed that run was simply an "outlier." Most of his runs were about 5.8 - 6s (unless he started in 2nd gear).

I agree. It's a great review for those who are actually considering buying a new entry luxury car.

Ah!

No, I wasn't being sarcastic. I just had no frame of reference for the video; IOW - the video by itself didn't mean anything. I couldn't figure out how it suppported a 5.5 time.

Thanks for clarifying the source; I do recall some of Wavhogger's posts on this.
