Hello everyone,
I am from Toronto and new to this forum. I am glad to find this forum with so many helpful TL lovers.
I am a new driver and I just bought my first Acura (also my first car in life) last weekend. It is a pre-owned 2012 Acura TL White FWD w/ Tech; currently has about 49k km on it.
I love this car, and hope to keep it for 4-5 years (maybe even longer). The dealership is selling a warranty package of 7year (till 2019)/160k km for $2288 (bump to bump including labor and road assistance according to the sales). I am hesitated to take it since I am not sure if the warranty is worth the money. But I noticed the tech package has quite some electric devices inside which are unlikely to last for 4-5 years without any issue.
Could any of our experienced fellows here kindly give me some advice please?
I do not know much about cars, so any other suggestions for beginners to start with TL are also highly appreciated!
Thanks!

I just bought a 2010 SH AWD + tech package, and I refused to buy any extended warranties. I feel Honda builds an extremely reliable car. And my luck the fine print will exclude anything that breaks.
Enjoy.
These cars handle very well.

Very good choice for your first car as an Acura!!! Welcome to the club amigo...
$2288 for extended warranty sounds too much, you can negotiate this price as well. I got my extended warranty 8 years or 120K miles for $1200 that was initially offered for $2800+. I was not going to get one since chances that something might really go wrong but for decided that $1200 not big of the deal if you buy car for long term... just my 2c

A TL for your first car, not bad! Congrats!!
I bought a new TL a month ago and though I never buy extended warranties, just like you I felt I should with the Tech package. My thoughts, with a Acura/Honda there really is no need for one but with my 1st tech I guess it was peace of mind. I was offered two warranties.. can't remember exactly (would have to check my paper work) but one was cheaper than the other and less years. I went with the cheaper one. Figured I got something rather than nothing. I was negotiating the more expensive one with them at first and they came down quite a bit in price. You can always negotiate.
Enjoy your new ride!!

There are several, if not half a dozen, recent posts on the subject.
First off, that price seems high.
Secondly, a warranty is a suckers bet.
Only 22% of extended warranty owners actually save money. That means 78% of purchasers loose money.
42% NEVER use it.
You'd be better off to just put that $2,300 into a special "In Case of Emergency" account, rather than paying the Dealer's boat slip fees.
