Wink 1st Thread~ New Car!! TL SH-AWD TECH BWP

Hi everyone! I'm new here but not new to acura's for this is my 4th. Driven Acura's since 1999. Finally moved up to my TL! It is absolutely gorgeous! Really wish I got the advance package just for the 19" wheels but this was the best I could do and I wanted white. Black was my 2nd choice but high maintenance. You can get great deals on the 13's. I suggest you grab one if considering an upgrade

Cool. I skipped the AWD and got the Advance FWD model, same year and color as yours (black interior). I use the ventilated seats constantly and couldn't live without them now. The blind spot indicators are also extremely useful. It's a tough trade off but you're right, they're dealing hard right now and you can get some insane discounts of between $6k and $7k off list.

Traded in my 2010 TSX. Gave me $1000 over KBB trade-in value and sold me the car at True Market Value for my area. They gave me mud guards, wheel locks and all weather mats. Here in CT you only pay taxes on the amount left on car after trade in. Trade-in was easy since I owned my TSX. I also put down over 2k more. I don't lease so not sure what the lease deals are now but there is 0.9% financing on 3 year loan or 1.9% for 5 years (again depending what area). Also check your bank and credit unions for rates.... all in all I got about $6k off MSRP. I think if you can wait Nov/Dec you can get better.... no doubt... they just may not have the exact color combo etc. you may want. I'm loving it! Couldn't wait!

Awesome we're almost twins! I have the graystone interior though I would of took the black if they had it. Seats are scary light but I'm used to it (from past cars). Need that AWD here in New England or I would of definitely went with the Advance pkg. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info. I will get around to photobucket though it keeps telling me "5 post, 15 days" for full access. Can't figure out the signature part either. I guess I will have to wait.

Late to the party but congrats! Great color choice. It's a pain to keep clean and you can see all the dust and dirt build up but looks great once it's washed.

Thanks! This is my 4th Acura as well but 1st TL (slowly moving up lol). Sorry to hear of your issues... do you mind me asking what your issues are? Heartbreaking to hear because I've never had a problem in the 14+ years driving my Acura's. Hope the 2013 TL wont let me down. Congrats anyways and Good Luck!! Keep us posted.

Thank you... Had a white before and loved it! By the way jealous of your "6MT". Only regret

Update

So here's a couple pics I took the day I picked up my car. I just made an appointment for tints. I'm going with the 3M crystalline. I wont being doing any mods on my car thought I admire them all on everyone else's. Truly an art of personality with each individual's car. Well done and very impressive. When you want to remember what stock looks like come visit my page
I've just hit 1000 miles and my thoughts so far is I'm in love with this car. Super fast and the SH-AWD need I say more. No regrets but missing the MT. Getting a good deal on the left over 13's there weren't many options. I wanted AWD and I wanted white but manual was not available. Besides I thought I was ready to retire the MT. Wrong car to retire with...lol. The advantage of an auto is I am enjoying my daily commute without having to put down my coffee mug. My left knee is thanking me as well. No need to crack it after a day in traffic. Also, I tend to stop more at a stop sign rather than rolling through because I hated coming to a complete stop and having to start in 1st gear... the little things. Also, I crack myself up as I have to double check that I even put the car in the right gear with the Auto but I know that will come second nature eventually. Rear fold down seats would of been nice and I'm not a big fan of the stock rims but that could possibly change in the future.
All in all I'm obsessed with my car. I love her!! I signed up here on AZ because when I was researching my new car the AZ forums always came up. I almost strayed from Acura to Infiniti but AZ helped confirm my loyalty to Acura. Thanks everyone for the interesting talk and keeping me up to date on my car and the world around it. If I ever have any issues or questions I know just where to go.

Congrats on the new car and welcome!

Very nice choice on the tint you picked. It's very costly I'm sure for the 3M Crystalline (think I got quoted $600 for all around plus sunroof and windshield), but it's one of the best tints out I believe. High heat rejection at a light shade. Can't beat that.

It is costly... cant believe it I'm getting a $100 off because I know the guy from way back in HS. Not much but helps. I'm going lighter this time. Slight tint with UV protection. I'm boring.. getting too old for dark tints lol

I'd get crystalline on the windshield and color stable everywhere else if you want to stay with 3M. IMO the crystalline even in it's highest percentage is too light.

I've noticed something about quality tint film vs crap: quality film is like a two way mirror; it's difficult for onlookers to see in, but easy for you to see out. Bad film it's just as dark inside as it its outside. I'm going to get a light percentage crystalline tint on my windshield, I don't think 35% all around is dark enough with an umber interior.

Thanks for the info and your recommendation. Good to know the difference between quality film vs bad "difficult for onlookers to see in" I will miss the privacy. I had 35% on my RSX that was white. Had the car 10+ years, can't even remember what brand tint it was but it still looked good as new when I sold it last year. The 35% looked awesome and enjoyed it but I just feel I want lighter this time around. Probably 50%. I could do the color stable like you said and crystalline on the windshield.

Thanks. Lighter tint does look a lot cleaner in my opinion, especially on a white car like yours. Heart said something about going with 3M color stable all around and Crystalline on the windshield, but the heat rejection from the lighter Crystalline tint beats many of the darker tints. I know I didn't believe that theory too, but the tint shop I went to had a heat lamp setup with multiple brand and % tint, and the Crystalline (40 I believe was the darkest) rejected the most heat.

Crystalline does have the highest heat rejection. My suggestion to use crystalline on the wind is for a few reasons but no necessarily for the heat rejection.

1) color stable film is good BUT they don't come in high percentage grade like 50% and over. I'd never recommend getting a dark tint on the windshield, that's just dumb.
2) to save you money, as you already know the crystalline is very expensive, the color stable is one film grade below it and significantly cheaper.
3) I was trying to convince you to go darker all around except for the windshield; I like that look, even more so on white, makes the paint "pop".

If you're going to keep the tint light and have already mentally accepted the cost of crystalline, I'd just stick with that

Actually Color Stable does come in 50% percent, it' the highest %
http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawe...20Brochure.pdf
My tint guy actually even wanted me to do color stable but agreed Crystalline would give the highest heat rejection. Showed me the heat lamps... pretty cool but pricey.
Of course I would do 90% or Clear Crystalline on my windshield.
Esthetically the dark windows look nice but my personal opinion... no darker than 35%
