'13 Accord or '10 TL
Hey everyone. I've saw a thread comparing a '13 v6 accord to a '13 TL. My question is comparison with an older 4G TL. I've been reading the forums for a few days and haven't come across this question. I apologize in advance if it's a repeat.
I have the itch to upgrade my car. After 7 years in a corolla, it's time to get something bigger, quieter, and more fun to drive. I'm 30, and feel way too old to be driving what I am. I have a 2y/o, with another on the way, so space is somewhat a concern.
I've narrowed it down to a new '13 Accord EX-L V6, or a CPO '10/'11 TL tech (not sure on FWD vs SH-AWD). The latter is of course several grand cheaper, but also a few years older. I'm coming from a Corolla, so anything I drive seems better.
What do you guys think? Would the new Accord suffice, or are the differences in the TL worth buying CPO?

I haven't been in a '13 accord, but I have looked over their specs when I considered trading in my '10 TL (I changed my mind). Assuming you are comparing a '13 accord V6 w/Nav to a '10 TL FWD Tech, the accord has a lot of advantages and not many disadvantages. Better fuel economy (and reg fuel instead of premium), slightly smaller dimensions but roomier second row and trunk, longer warranty period. Slightly higher price, and probably doesn't handle as well as a '10 TL.
However, if you want to spend some more for the TL AWD, then there is really no comparison at least in terms of fun factor. And at your age that should figure pretty high on your list. I have a 6sp MT so maybe I am biased, but the AWD TL is just a FUN car to drive.

The '13 Accord will make an excellent family car. I've read some really good reviews on them. If the TL is also FWD then I'd go w/ the Accord but if it's w/ the SH-AWD, I'd take the TL simply because of the fun factor as oscars2212 mentioned. There's no substitution for that new car smell though. Test drive them and I'm positive you will know which you like more. Personally, if I had to choose in you're scenerio I'd prolly buy the Accord. New for new, I'd choose the TL if the price difference isn't that big. Or you can wait for the new TLX...

Depends - if you don't need the AWD, then the Accord, easily. If you do, then it becomes a bit more difficult. If you can get the 6MT with the TL (which would be SHAWD), then I would probably jump on that. Otherwise, the Accord.

I just purchased a 10 tl base. I sell at a Honda dealership and it was time for an upgrade. I love the new accord but I decided to go with the tl. I drove both cars for about a week before purchasing and for some odd reason I felt more cramped in the accord. Something about the way they designed the interior of the tl made it seem much more roomy. Either choice is great and I'm sure I would've been happy with either car but for me the tl seemed like a better choice.

SH-AWD > Accord.
If not, get the Accord.

If you want/need AWD, get the old AWD TL.
But if you don't, get the brand new FWD Accord.

Wow, I just found this forum by mistake, and at first glance, I thought my boyfriend had started this thread (other than we have no kids)! I was driving a Corolla for 10 years and now Im looking to upgrade. Unfortunately the 2013 Accord is too pricey for me (at least with the all of the tech), and the 2012 didnt have all the same tech, so I was considering a Camry V6 SE (plain, not as fun, but similar specs to the accord). Im happy to have found this thread! 2010 TL vs camry....sigh

i've sat in both cars. the TL's interior still feels a lot nicer then the accord. the accord does have more room in the back and can seat 5 ppl no problem where as in the TL is more of a 4 seater with hump in the middle. also trunk space in the TL seems smaller. so it all comes down to the "fun factor" on the awd TL or the practicality of a mid size sedan on the accord.

So what ya'll are saying is, aside from the newer factor which is obviously in the Accords favor, that the driving experience, comfort, etc are all in the Accords favor from the '10 TL? FWD vs FWD that is. That's incredible if so. Otherwise new tech and new car smell wouldn't trump a better ride in my opinion (within reason).
