09 TL named "Must See New Car" by Consumer Reports
Consumer Reports named 10 "Must See New Car" for 2009-2011, and the 09 TL is one of them:

It is listed at #2 and they seem to like it a lot!

I have that actual issue of CR that is cribbed from. They don't list cars as "must see" in terms of which cars are good or bad. They just highlight cars that did well in previous tests, or sold a lot, that were revised. There is no honor here at all. You post seems to imply that CR saw the TL as the 2nd most important new car, and that is not the case.
Also, there is nothing in that blurb that suggest CR's editors like the TL a lot. It just notes its bigger, and then describes the model line:
Redesigned for 2009, Acura's upscale sedan is now taller, wider, and some six inches longer with a more spacious interior. The base model gets a power increase with a 280 -hp, 3.5-liter V6 that Acura says is capable of 26 mpg on the highway. A performance-oriented, all- wheel-drive version is powered by a 305-hp, 3.7-liter V6. Both get a five-speed automatic transmission and a new electrically assisted steering system that helps reduce fuel usage by eliminating the steering pump. An optional technology package includes a voice-command navigation system, with XM traffic and weather reporting.
Nothing to get excited about here at all.
