6.2 ? Thats a slug. I thought it was faster. Thats almost civic territory.

Perhaps, although it took a TL owner less time to search the internet to get the answer then it did you to post your question. And BTW, it's faster with non-all season tires by about a second.

I am a little surprised the tires make such a huge difference (from 6.2s to 5.2s). Is this a personal experience or some sorts of magazine testing?

I believe the FWD is slightly faster to 60 as well. Also no, you will not shave a second changing the tires lol

6-Speed from what I saw on the youtube clip with the auto vs manual had a quicker time because of less weight. And I highly doubt the fwd has a quicker 1/4.. but would not be surprise.

I don't believe I've ever seen a 5.2 for the Auto. The quickest time I have seen for a 4G is 5.2, for the MT version, both by Car & Driver and Road & Track. Everything I've seen is that the Auto is .5 to a second slower than the MT (both in AWD format). No idea about the FWD car.

no tires are going to cut a second off lol - the transmission holds this car back. 6spd auto definite improvement over the old 5 spd but its impossible to get a good launch in the auto. brake torquing ends up pushing the car into 2nd gear robbing you of power. FWD and AWD have about the same 0-60 and 1/4 if I recall - the AWD makes up for added weight with a bit more power and 4 tires gripping. I think most owners see around a 5.5 0-60 with the manual - the 5.2 the rags got was from 4K clutch dump if I remember right. Neat that a car this heavy is capable of that - the 3.7L is a peach of a motor, even if it does have an oil drinking problem.

You are correct..my error, the faster number was a result of BOTH the MT AND the Pilot Supersports. To answer the other question, no, not my personal experience, IK got that out of my system in a 67' Mustang.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the 0-60 and 1/4 miles times unless you plan to do some drag racing. The TL is a great cruiser and from a roll in sport mode it has plenty of pickup.

14.7 and 98 mph is very respectable for such a heavy car.
FYI the so called muscle cars of the 60's and 70's would be hard pressed to beat a 4G TL if we compare stock vehicles. Many of those Chevelles, Mustangs, Camaros etc. would be roughly in the same ballpark. Of course, small differences mean a lot if you are actually racing, but for "normal" driving the TL is a very nice ride. And the overall quality of cars today is far far superior to those old junkers!

Yes, cars have gotten a lot quicker. My 2G Legend felt quick at the time and sounded great on VTEC, but ran 0-60 in about 7.3. My wife's 9G Accord with 2.4 four-banger and 6MT would smoke it by about .7 seconds today. Doesn't seem right, but there you go.

Our 2012 TL is actually the wife's daily driver but I get to drive it during the weekend. I am not a street hot-rodder but I don't see how an average driver can really get any better 0-60 times with a FWD car like this. I have never floored the car off the line but have done a few brisk take-offs and the combination of high torque and FWD frequently results in the tires squealing and breaking loose. I would think you would need some stickier tires and suspension mods to get a decent take-off with these cars (rather than more power).

^^ Agree. I had a TLX FWD loaner (V6) which has skinnier tires. I ended up lighting them up accidentally right in front of the police station taking off from a light.

My '14 SH-AWD does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. However, I must admit, I have to add a few ghost peppers to the gas tank. The car likes them finely ground, but they sure do work well!

Oh, a bit of Tabasco helps, too!

Oh, and a very strong wind at my back, never hurts.
