I just bought a 2012 SH-AWD Advanced and added to it 8year/120K AcuraCare for $2100. I thought it was a reasonable deal and worth it. The dealer said the warranty is transferable to a new owner if needed. Another dealer quoted me $3000, which I thought was too much.
#85
I ended up cancelling the warranty I purchased from the Acura dealer I purchased the car from and bought a new warranty from an out-of-state Honda dealer. It's still Acuracare and is the same exact plan I bought before. Looking at the quote I received, for a D72 plan of 84/120k, the cost is $1320 plus $100 to cancel any existing plans. It took 5 minutes to complete over the phone after I faxed over the cancellation form and provided payment.

I'm scratching my head that the price difference for a same year/mileage plan for a 2012 MDX is so much higher than a 2012 TL.
7yr/100K for the TL is $1020 but for the MDX is $1585
We own both in my household. I wonder if I can get a package deal

I was just looking into this myself.
My car will be 1 year old on the 18th of this month, and it already has 22,500 miles on it. By the end of next year, my warranty will be up.
I contacted an out of state dealer and got a quote for the G62 6yr/120k Acura Care warranty for $1770 ($0 deductible).
What do you think, is that an okay deal considering the mileage that I have on my car?

just bought my CPO 2011 SH-AWD with Tech and other upgrades for 33.6K and also bought the 8/120 zero deductible for 1800. He started at 2700 and I tired 1500 but he called my bluff so I paid 1800. I know people have their own opinions but I have had good experiences with the factory backed Lexus, Honda and Harley so I always get them.

Acuracare quotes driving me crazy...here's a little background..
CPO tl tech, 2012, $30k, 18k miles, at sale time, the dealer quoted ridiculous numbers for the 8yr/120k Acuracare. I decided to shop around.
I contacted a few dealers, including Hyannis Honda, all tell me that the 8/120 on a CPO can only be purchased at the time of purchase from the dealer, they are happy to sell variants like the 6/80, 6/100, 6/120 acuracre for decent costs. The CPO carries a 5/62k, so I am not too eager to jump on these, the 8/120 is better IMHO.
I came back to my dealer who is quoting $2900 for a 8/120k, which is ridiculously high.
Is it true that the 8/120k is only sold by the selling dealer? I just don't get the angle...Why can't I go to a dealer of my choice and buy the 8/120k ?? It IS ultimately the same Acuracare.

I have got an Acura warranty for my certified TL. 1250 for 7y-10k; bumper to bumper on top of the power train since it is certified
Acura sells them, it is not a 3rd party one
if I don't use it I get the money back, but a trip to few Acura repair shop made me think that even if these cars are reliable, and you may not get a big failure; many mi or repairs every year may build up much more than 1200 bucks

^^^ $1,250. for the 7 year/100k miles warranty is definately worth it.
When I had my 2010 tl I cashed in the extended warranty soon after buying it - 2200. that I paid was way too much$.
crazyformytl - welcome to AZ! Congrats on your TL!

Yup, excludes only what can be considered wear and tear and if you ruin something doing wrong maintenance or putting aftermarket non approved components
These cars never break, but if they break it will cost you at least 1k, so why do you want to take the chance?

Thanks all for the information.
I just bought a 2009 Acura TL with 28,000 miles on it.....Original warranty about to expire within 1 month (due to the 4/yr time, not mileage). I researched extended warranty cost on-line and went to a few Honda dealerships and got warranty quotes. Long story short...... I ended up buying the 5/yr 120,000 -0- deductable Acura extended warranty from Hyannis Honda in Massachussetts, and I am in New York. I dealt with a gentleman named Bob Leab (as referenced to by others on here). I paid $1,585, no tax. I E-mailed Bob at least 6 times with a bunch of questions, he responded within an hour or two on each of my E-mails...... He was honest, clear, and concise. I recommend that you do your shopping and then call Bob Leab at Hyannis Honda.....It worked for me. Good luck all.

FWIW... I bought the extended warranty when I bought my 2006 RL and again when I bought my new-to-me CPO 2009 TL. When I traded in my RL, my warranty was about to expire, I cancelled the remainder of the warranty and still got back about $200 from Acura.
During the few years I owned the RL, it had various issues that were NOT covered under the facotry warranty - it expired - but were covered under my CPO. I needed a new AC compressor clutch, a new catalytic converter, a propeller shaft, and a few other items... I easily had enough warranty work that it paid for the price of the warranty.
if I had to shell the cash out of pocket it might be a hard sell, but when you can finance the cost of the warranty, it's less painful.. yes you are still spending the money..but it's spread out... and for many of us, there is a peace of mind that is comforting to know that in the unlkely event the car had a major issue that was NOT under warranty.. you are covered.
If you have $2000 to pay for the warranty sitting in an account that you can get at - you may be better off to just gamble.. save your money and spend it if/when you have an issue.
no right or wrong answer on this issue..
good luck

I also have a positive Acuracare warranty story. My 2005 TSX had the extended warranty and the car needed a new alternator and auto pulley tensioner, Acura had to wait 2 weeks for the pulley to arrive and I was told the bill would've been somewhere over $1000 dollars but I paid nothing and also had a free rental covered by them for 2 weeks. I'd say that paid for the extended warranty fee alone. Best part about all of that is the car was due to run out of the warranty in 2 days!
That's pretty much the exact reason why I got the 6yr/100k warranty on my TL.

I bought the 7yr 100k $0 deductible from Bob for 1265.. have had to use it twice already and I'm only at 55k miles.
Two door actuators went out - each costing about 200 to repair. I'm happy so far.

Actually the list price for 6yrs/, 100,000 km is $1098+13% tax in Ontario = $1240.70. $1,338 seems too high especially knowing that these are MRSP and can/should be negotiated. Am looking to bring down a 7yrs/130,000km from $1,768+tx=$1,997.84 to no more than $1,500. Any experience in Ontario recently?

Buy at the end of the Month
These guys need to make quota at the end of the month so if they are close you can get one for cost. I paid $1240 for 10/120 $0 deduct Acuracare which he told me was $25 over their cost (probably not true). I bought on the 29th and he said he needed 5 more in the next 24 hours which he thought he would be able to make. I had done research and knew the price should have been around $1200 so when he told me $2400 I mentioned I could get it for $1200 online and that is when he said $1240.

To all, first let me start by saying “Thank you” this thread was really helpful. Because I had just called a 3rd party non Acura warranty place that had sent me multiple mail pieces about my warranty. After I received the final noticed that stated that my warranty had expired I called them. After speaking to them for about a 1/2 hour they finally quoted me a price of $2,485.00 for 5/100k with a deductible of $100.00. This amount can be paid monthly for about roughly 98.00 with a down payment of 125.00. They made me feel like I really needed it so I bought it. Specially since I just received a notification in the mail about the Torque Converter and judder issue with the TLs. and how this can possibly damage your Tranny. (Already have an appt. to get this upgrade for it since I do feel the judder)
Good thing for Acurazine cause I found this thread and called up Bob Leab from Hyannis Honda very helpful guy. He quoted me 5/100k no deductible for $1295.00 or 5/120k for $1585.00. I called the 3rd party place and cancelled immediately after haggling for about another 1/2 hour.
Thanks Acurazine members.

Just paid $1100 each for a 8yr/100k on my 12 TL Advance AWD and 12 TSX Sportwagon Tech
I think they gave me the better deal on the TL since I bought two.
A warranty is only good if you need it, as is homeowners insurance, car insurance, HEALTH insurance and such. It is insurance and will be great if I need to use it and if I don't I tossed $2k out the window.
I also have a daughter that will drive one of these cars when she turns 16 in 5 years so I figure that will last her under warranty until her first year of college.
Piece of mind comes at a cost, mine is $2 and I'm happy to pay not to worry about an expense when I'm getting ready to send a kid to college when the warranties are about to expire.
BTW, my 98 Honda Odyssey van has 175k on it and other than a few oil drips runs like a champ anytime I need her. No extended warranty needed...

Purchased the warranties from Airport Acura in Cleveland
I've bought three cars there in the past two years so I think they're trying to take good care of me.
I also checked with Park Acura in Canton Ohio and they quoted me a few dollars more at $1200 and I've never bought anything from them...

Gentleman I would like to add some input here that I think many people will find useful.
I am currently purchasing a 2012 SH-AWD with 44K on the ODO and its CPO. ($26,750)
I am looking at extended warranty and I was able to see the dealers sheets for cost.
Option 1: AC1-7 year/100k warranty: Cost: $590
Option 2: AC2-8 year/100k warranty: Cost: $790
Option 3: AC3-10 year/120k warranty: Cost: $1380
I will be going with option 1 and I will let you know what how much I actually pay.

I purchased a Service Loaner via CPO with 3K miles on it from local dealer in November. AcuraCare warranty extension to 7years/100K was only $800, I don't know if it's more on New vs CPO.

Yesterday I purchased a 7/100 Acura Care warranty with a $0 deductible ("D70") from Bob Leab at Hyannis Honda for $1080. My car has 250 miles on the odo. Bob has been selling warranties as just above cost for years. His prices are hundreds of dollars cheaper than his competition (Curry, Bernardi, Saccucci). The process is simple: he sends you a quote; he emails/faxes the service contract and a pdf of the Acura Care pamphlet; you complete the contract and email/fax it back to him; he calls to confirm the info and takes a credit card number; he emails back a copy of the signed contract and the official contract acknowledgement/approval receipt from Acura/Honda. The process takes 15 mins. Acura will send the warranty cards/booklet with 3-4 weeks.
