Traffic Sign Recognition & Speed Limit

It does the same on my TLX and I would imagine, the RDX.
WAZE has the speed limit so that Acura feature becomes pointless when using CP/AA.

No, the newer gen Acuras have a traffic sign recognition feature and that's what's being reported to the HUD and/or MID. It's not coming from the NAV at all (whether the crappy Acura one or an app on CP/AA).

OK, thanks. I'll have to call and ask AcuraLink In-Car Technical Support about it.

Hopefully it gets better over time! If it’s AI based then it’s a matter of training...

Although I try to avoid driving in DC at all cost, this needs to be fixed post haste. That greedy city is extremely predatory when it comes to speed tickets and they have very low speed limits in most areas. They collected over $1 BILLION in tickets between 2017-2019. I'm guessing they haven't changed one bit since then!

Mine showed a 70PMH speed limit in a 35 the other day...I changed my setting so it uses the navigation for speed limit recognition rather than the front cameras (which is supposed to see the speed limit signs...not sure how it saw 70) I haven't been back on that road to see if it fixed that problem, but that's an option to possible fix the error. Default setting is to use the cameras for sign recognition (although if you don't have navi it's NOT option).

Agreed, the waze map is better than the Acura Nav in my 2019 MDX, and has the bonus of the speed limit. If the new Nav is like the one in the RDX, Waze is superior.

It might be specific to those of you who have a HUD (Advance models). I do my best to ignore the reported speed limit as its wrong about 15% of the time.

It looks to me your settings are set to "Google Maps" speed limit. Basically, the system shows you the limit as per that on Google Maps - which are either outdated, or inaccurate. If you go into vehicle settings, there is an option to change that to "Traffic Sign Recognition" - which is extremely accurate. I've never had any issues with this option on my 22 MDX ASpec.

The speed limit display comes from the camera behind the rear view mirror. It simply tries to read speed limit signs. I've seen many other cars make the same errors. It's not a perfect tech because sometimes it's hard for the camera to see the sign, such as due to rain, night, glare, etc.

Mine does it too, says 100 MPH. Okay we know that can't be true. The bigger issue for me is when it says 45 MPH when it's really 30 MPH, now that can get you quicker. Pretty unreliable !!! Loved it showing in the HUD until I figured out it's not accurate.
